I tend to look for fever, or a decrease in wet dipes as signs to go in (or at least call).  Head shaking can be a sign of an ear infection, but I'd say wait 24 hours to see if it resolves with natural remedies.  Stuffiness, congestion, and crankiness are just colds though.  Miserable for all parties, but nothing can be done by a doctor.  Try to make him as comfortable as possible, and put a shot of whiskey in your tea if you need to.  It will resolve in due course!

a big glass of wine at night is getting me through dinner at least :)  Any great natural remedies you  can think of for babes, let me know......

DS is getting over his first cold.  He has been stuffy and cranky.  I mostly have been nursing him as often as he wants, but I also got Similasan Sinus Relief at Whole Foods.  It helps a lot when he is really stuffed up, like in the morning.

This thread has some good ideas.  When DD got her cold, I completely drew a blank!

Ada has just got her first cold too.  No fever but she's coughing, sneezing and just a little stuffy....so far.  I'm gonna check out that other thread it's hard to know what to do when they are so little still.  We're all sick here except DH...ughh we had dodged the cold bug for so long but it finally caught up with us.  Sara Beth caught it first but seems to be getting much better after just a couple days so hopefully this is a short lived kind of cold.

Hope everybody's babes get well soon!  They are so pitiful when they are sick.

I think our cold might have been the short-lived kind, too. (knock, knock) I think we're lucky that I caught the cold first and my body figured out the antibodies, because now that DD has it she seems to be hopefully fighting it off quickly (hopefully!) We bought saline drops and baby chest rub and they seemed to help. She SCREAMED when we tried to suction her nose. greensad.gif That's SO hard to see. The suction wasn't even in her nose and she flipped out. oy... So hard when the little one is sick! I want to shelter her from all discomfort in life, but of course I can't. sneeze.gif

I'm sorry so many of you are dealing with babies with colds!  Nate has one and I'm crossing my fingers that the rest of us are spared.

I do that every Monday :) And then my whole week is about waiting for the next Monday! :)

Man. He's turned into a crazy eater. Since about 6 weeks old, he sleeps at night beautifully. He eats when he starts sleeping, once at night and when he wakes up. Recently, he's been very fussy about morning feedings so I run around with giant, lumpy leaky boobs begging the kid to please suck so I don't have to pump.

This morning? They're both very soft. He nursed about every two hours. Or more. All night. He got complainy about the right one right before we got up, so I think it might've given in and gone to bed itself. He also slept most of yesterday. And ate a ton. So. Growing in leaps and bound, apparently.

He's so lovely, though :) Especially when I see him naked, I can't look away. With clothes, you see the sweet face and hand, but when he's naked you get all the beautiful rolls and skin. I made him and he's perfect.  I can't stand the brilliance of it sometimes :)

Ada is doing pretty good.  She's not really congested in her nose that much, I can hear it sometimes but I've never had to suction her out at all.  She's still coughing a little bit though.  If she's like the rest of us her throat is probably a little sore.  We got our big humidifier out this morning, the one that supposed to help for the whole house, so hopefully that'll help us all.  Sara Beth is doing much better though, I think she got the worst of it than anybody else.  I just hate to see them with their weak looking little eyes, its pitiful.

It flippin' snowed here last night!  I'm starting to think I can predict the snow by Sara Beth's colds.  Everytime she gets one it snows and she can't go out and play in it.  Poor girl.  But it was only about an inch or so and she's doing much better than she was so I let her go walk around in it for about half an hour this morning.

DD rolled over today!!! We all witnessed it (we have family in town). She looked startled but saw us smiling and then she smiled. I put her back on her stomach and she rolled over to the other side right away. Look out world, here she comes!! joy.gif

So Mags woke up last and had green junk in her left eye. She woke up this morning and had more. I don't think its possible she got pink eye from anywhere as no one touches her while we are out and she hasn't been out in a couple days. She just started getting real tears the past couple weeks- could it possibly be a clogged tear duct? Is there anything I should do for it besides cleaning it with a warm cloth and maybe a little breast milk (my body still makes a couple drops a day... enough to treat ailments, just not feed her.)

ugh to babies with colds- DS has been miserable when awake - not fun.  I woke up not wanting to deal with a cranky needy baby today.  My attitude SUCKS today- it's cold and raw out, every time i try to do something he wakes up and cries- Im super cranky to DH because he gets to 'get stuff done' - he's out doing "errands" for my bday this week with DD and offers to help a ton- it's not his fault but I feel like blaming SOMEONE!  I hope to have an attitude adjustment SOON......
