formaldehyde exposure in early pregnancy

So my yoga teacher training program is taking a field trip next week to look at cadaver bodies (dissected to show various bones/muscles) but talking to some of the people who went last year, they said that the formaldehyde was really intense for them and some of them left feeling dizzy and with a headache. I'll be almost 9 weeks when we go and I'm wondering whether there's a risk to the fetus if the formaldehyde bothered them so much?? I'm actually really excited about going, but don't want to pose any risk to the baby. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Try to confirm that it is formaldehyde used.  If it is, then no I would not go, especially not in your first trimester!  From what I have heard, formaldehyde is not often used anymore, but I would just call the place and ask!   But, if whatever chemical it was had that effect on others, then I would consider not going even if it is not form. thats used.  You could also express your concern when you call and ask if the area can be ventilated with open windows, etc.  I knew this lady who had severe allergies once and she would wear this necklace that had a little air purifier thing on it and it was really quiet.  I dont know what stuff it filtered out, or even what it was, but maybe someone else knows of something like that that could help?

formaldehyde is rarely used in the preservation of human flesh and or large animals.  more often it is human ebalming fluid which is possibly a little scarier : ) maybe you could wear a respirator?
