Lump After Vaccines

My daughter had her 2nd round of shots, all boosters, at age 6 months, on the 7th of this month.  The day after the shots, she developed large, firm lumps at the injection sites that were red and hot.  When I say large, I mean 1-2 inches in diameter.  Currently, the lumps have shrunk to roughly pea size  and are no longer red or hot, only warm. What caused this?  Would you recommend that she have more boosters in the future?  After her first round of shots at age 5 months, she didn't have this reaction.  I am concerned.  I don't plan on giving her any more vaccines until the lumps she currently has are completely gone. She is not in daycare and is breastfed. Thanks so much for your help! thumb.gif

This wouldn't cause any long-term problems.  But it does indicate a sensitivity to these vaccines.  The next doses could cause worse swelling. This type of reaction, in my opinion, isn't severe enough to definately warrant skipping the shots from now on. But the possible reactions to the next doses are unpredictable. IF you decide to continue with the doses, you should do each vaccine one at a time, spaced out by about 1 month between each.

Sorry to ask so many questions.  Essentially I want to know if I should consider doing something different because of her reaction.  Thanks!

Thank you for your response!  I'm glad to know this doesn't signify a long term problem.  Thank you again for your time.
