Let's talk nipples...

My nipples were completely flat when my 5 year old was born and nursing was extremely painful. I was persistent and he ended up nursing until he was almost 3 but only off of one breast. I want to avoid the pain this time around. Neither of my nipples pokes out when I pinch them, but the one he nursed from protrudes more. Is there anything I can be doing now to help me out when this baby is born in February? I really want to nurse with both breasts this time.

there is a product, im not sure what its called...its like a nipple guard, but it has a fake nipple that let's the sucking pressure get the milk out, but without your nipple protruding.   its a clear plastic sheet/disk. i hope you can find something that helps!

several options here  with a quick google search. looks like this one if for when you are not nursing, but the "products like this" section has the ones for when you are nursing.

also found several ways to help here.
