At 8 months old, will co-sleeping come to an end because of DP?

I've been co-sleeping with my 8 mo DD since she was born. Her daddy joined us when she was 4 mo, and it's been the 3 of us until now. (He was adamantly against it at first, but then he came over to our side! biggrinbounce.gif

I don't want to stop co-sleeping, and I don't think he really does either, but it's starting to get uncomfortable. I think we have either a full or a queen size bed. We're not large people by any means, but it's less and less comfortable all the time. Add to that the fact that she's about to start crawling.

He's been making comments about "when will we get the bed to ourselves" kind of thing. I think if we can find the right solution, we can continue to co-sleep.

I've been thinking along the lines of getting the biggest size futon mattress, a really good one, and just sleeping on that on the floor. That way we'll have more wiggle room, and we don't have to worry about DD crawling off into space and landing on the floor in a less than gentle fashion. Can anyone recommend good quality yet inexpensive futons?

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks! :)

Edit to Add: Oops, I guess co-sleeping and bed-sharing are two different things? If so, we've been bed-sharing, not co-sleeping, if co-sleeping means the baby is near, but not on the same surface as us.

We actually ended up buying a king bed when DD was around 20 months old (for our 3rd wedding anniversary!).  MUCH, much better.

That said, another thing we did (at another point in time) was we just laid the mattress on the ground and put a twin mattress (or crib matress) right next to it.  That way the bed exteded further.  The advantage of the twin is that either an adult or the baby can go on that extra space while with the twin mattress you pretty much need the baby there.

Good luck!
