I think it's almost time! « Back to Group Discussions

           Ah! I'm so excited! I really think baby is on his way! I've been having very mild contractions for a week and a day! Yesterday around 11:30 AM I started having a lot of back pain, but it overtook a lot more of my back than I thought it would... All the way from just below my bra strap to my hip bones, so it almost felt like I was getting sick. I continued doing what I was doing until I got home and I could tell that the contractions just *felt* different... They were deeper and felt more uncomfy, but still nothing I was getting too worried or excited about. I took a shower and laid down for an hour and then again, went about my daily business. During dinner I was squirming from back pain but still kind of, "maybe I'm just sick" and "maybe this really is labor..."  So I got in the bath to relax and see how things went.... All signs of labor stopped for a good while after that except what felt like Braxton hicks...

               Then just now, I woke up because I had to pee and found blood in my panties! :) :) I think baby is on his way! :) Yay! Hahaha... And now I'm posting about it because no one else is awake at 4:30 AM to share this and I'M JUST SO EXCITED! :)

I woke up a few times between 4:30 and about 8 with contractions... But since getting out of bed and moving around they have stalled again... UGH! It's so hard not to be anxious! I'm going to get some more shopping done this morning and maybe start some freezer meals depending on how everything is going... I'm really hoping he decides to make an appearance today. I still don't have a name... Oh boy. Oh! Contraction! :)

Don't do TOO much! If it ends up happening all day and then the real thing happens tomorrow, you're gonna be so exhausted.

Ooohhh!! How exciting! Yes, what Becky said, though. Don't do too much. Seriously! This is #3 for me, and my first thought upon thinking I'm in labor would be to go back to bed. You need to get as much rest as possible. Everything else can wait. Do a little, but then try to sleep some more. Good luck! Can't wait for updates!

She's right!  With #1, I went into labor at 11:00pm.  I went to tell my mom (who I was living with at the time) and she told me to go back to bed.  I was like, no way, I'm about to have a baby!!  Well, I didn't deliver him for another 27 hours..  I was so tired by the time I gave birth that life was a fog.  Take it easy today and rest as much as possible, you might need your strength. 

With #2 I also went into labor at night, only I went back to bed.  It made all the difference the next day.  Good luck!

Ooh! How exciting! Try not to be too discouraged if your labor starts and stops. Your body's still doing good work, and it might not be so exhausting for you as a continuous labor.

Personally, I'm hoping for a loooong early labor. That happened to me last time. For 3 days I had regular, slightly uncomfortable but not really painful contractions that started and stopped. When I finally went into active labor I was already at 4 cm and had been for awhile. I climbed into the tub, my water broke, I dilated from 4 to 10 in one contraction, and that kid shot out like a rocket! I only had one really painful contraction the entire labor. I felt awesome afterward! It was hard to believe I'd just had a baby. I'd take a labor like that any day over the steady, painful, but shorter kind. :)

I, too, just got some blood when I wiped.  Don't know if there was already any on my underwear though as I elected to wear red ones today... oops!

Haven't heard anything else from Meb. Hope everything is going okay for those that seem to be progressing.

Still no baby. :( Still at home. Still no strong contractions with a pattern. BUT! I do have 11 loaves of plain bread made (over half are frozen), 2 loaves of pumpkin bread in the oven baking, 3 big jars of chili in the freezer and enough for a meal in the fridge and some groceries ready to go in the freezer, fridge and pantry. :) I'm feeling like I might throw up too? Which seems to be a common trend in women about to begin labor... Still trying not to get my hopes up.

I took a walk today and got the contractions going, but they did slow down a lot when I got home. And I'm having a little, teeny, tiny amount of back pain... but nothing compared to what was going on yesterday. And discharge today has all been tinged with either brown or red... So I am still releasing some kind of blood in very small amounts...

This sounds promising!  You could also try to nipple stimulation to get things going.  It really helped my with #2 when I was in early labor.  Tons of walking and nipple rubbing.

If things pick back up and stall out again, I'd really recommend sleeping during the day :-)  The hormones that start labor are higher at night so chances are you might not be sleeping too well then. Get some rest, mama!

Still feeling crappy, but no more blood or increase in contractions... and the ones I'm having aren't too uncomfortable, either.  Eh, we'll see.  This waiting game is exhilarating but also kinda sucky.

It is common to have the bloody show a few days or more in advance. Try to go about life as normal and rest as much as you can.
