You wanna take that craving and turn it into an opportunity for pouring something super, super nutritious down your throat?? Get some Braggs raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar from your grocery store and use that instead!! It tastes EXACTLY the same (except better!) and looks the same and acts the same...it's just really, really good for you!!

Try it, it's cheap, right in the grocery store and amazing for your gut/immuno-health and overall health.

And yeah...I totally feel you on "the stuff that sounds good"...ahahaha....SO glad you're feeling like eating honey!

Hehe that's funny I go through a bagel kick as well! My last pregnancy I discovered Jalepeno cheese bagels and they are my current pregnancy craving not too spicy but just enough for a kick! I am also loving onion bagels or plain bagels with cream cheese. Oh and green salads are always on my mind lately (Romaine, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage)  with some sort of creamy dressing I bought some cherry tomatoes the other day and I have almost eaten half the package they taste so good and remind me of summer instead of this icky gray dreary weather we have been having...

I love vinegar in almost every form except apple cider vinegar, actually. There's just something about it. I use it for all different things and I'll consume it if necessary (or sometimes even in dressings mixed with other stuff) but I am not big on the flavor. I don't know why. But this pregnancy it's all about the red wine vinegar!

Hahaha, that's so funny...I could replace any other vinegar with apple cider vinegar and be a happy chick! Red Wine Vinegar is pretty awesome too, though!

I may have to try this for dinner tonight, I think I have some quinoa and I know I have black beans and the red wine vinegar/salt sounds super delicious!!  So you mix it all?  It's weird, I hate pickles and don't eat ice cream very often but saw the 2 things in the same sentence and thought ... hum, I should try that.  LOL

Well, my wife made this recipe for dinner: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/quinoa-and-black-beans/

It was good but we didn't have any cilantro so it was missing a zing. Since I have been weirdly craving vinegar lately, I just sprinkled some in my bowl. I don't think that I would have done it if I wasn't pregnant! lol.gif But it tasted so good to me. I don't know what it is but I am craving vinegar and brine. I eat pickles and olives daily and I have to hold myself off from drinking the juice out of the jar. Pregnancy is weird.

Then there will be nothing for the pickles to sit in!

DH heard that pickle juice relieves leg cramps so he saved a jar of it to give to the littles when they complain of leg pain (which seems to be often during the growth spurts!).  I can't stand the thought of pickles other than that brief moment when the ice cream sounded good with it.

Right now, I'm boiling some golden potatoes, not sure why just thought it sounded good.  LOL  Off to fold laundry with my bigs so they can get chore credits LOL

Ok, it tasted GREAT while I was eating it, and I added the red wine vinegar to it because it felt like it was missing a flavor.  I did add the cilantro to it as well and it still felt like it needed the vinegar.  The only problem was I had stomach pain after, like I had eaten something with gluten in it (I mean that's the kind of pain I had) but I double checked and the vinegar was gluten free and so was the Quinoa so I have no clue what could have made my stomach hurt.  One kid liked it and DH was at work so he hasn't tried it yet

I'm happy to say that I am craving greens and veggies.  I've been adding finely chopped kale to just about everything.  I put it in our warm rice cereal for breakfast and my daughter loves it too.  Now I am onto collard greens.  Our natural food store had a really yummy black eyed pea and collard green soup.  But it was TOO spicy for the reflux I'm getting.  I would probably not worry about it and eat it anyway, except the reflux cough is the trigger for throwing up (still!  Even though the nausea is gone.  Sigh).   So I am having to be super careful about what I eat.  So I tried making it on my own at home.  It was basically broth, black eyed peas, collard greens, turkey bacon, and a bit of tomato.  I swear I could eat this for breakfast lunch and dinner.

I am also with the rest of you on vinegar.  Anything salty and tangy.  We have a new olive oil and balsamic vinegar store in town where the do samples.  When I tasted the balsamic vinegar, I almost cried, it tasted so good.  This was really quality stuff!  I hadn't tasted balsamic that good before, but then maybe with was just the pregnancy.  Who knows if I would cry over vinegar normally.  :-)

Also, DH has brought out the umeboshi plum vinegar to put on our rice the last few nights.  So good!

I am so happy that my cravings are on the healthy side.  I've been repulsed by chocolate, but starting to consider trying it again.  Yesterday I had a raw chocolate bar and it actually tasted pretty good.  It just seemed so strange to not like chocolate.  I have such a sweet tooth (in my own, no refined sugar diet, kind of way).

Has anyone done any research or heard about Red Wine Vinegar and Basalmic containing lead? It has something to do with Proposition 65 Here is the link I found... I just wondered what you ladies thought about it.
