How soon to get pregnant again

DH and I are thinking of stopping preventing pregnancy in a couple of months.  Our son will be 7 months at the time.  My period resumed a while ago because he slept through the night a few times so it is possible to get pregnant again right away.  I plan on breastfeeding him until he weans naturally.  A friend mentioned to me that if you get pregnant again too soon though you may have to give up breastfeeding because your nutrient stores aren't back to normal.  I haven't found any evidence of this in any of the books I've read in the past.  Any experience with this?

You don't have to give up bfing because of nutrient stores but you might have to supplement because your milk supply decreases.

Yup. From what I've read, 70% of women will lose at least some supply when they get pregnant again. I totally dried up - although my son was a toddler and I have low supply to begin with. Kellymom.com has more info about nursing during pregnancy and tandem nursing.
