Weeks/Days along: 12w 4d
Appointments: first "real" prenatal visit at the OB practice on Thursday (I've been seeing my midwife though)
Symptoms: nausea is much improved. fatigue (see below). skin is still in pretty bad shape.
Food: this has been getting better as my aversions have been going away.
Exercise: none :( and I love being active.
Body changes and other milestones: starting to show a tiny bump. breasts have definitely stopped growing for now.
So, I had another (totally different) scare today. I was taking a shower and suddenly felt very light-headed, dizzy, nauseous, and started breathing heavily. I had to sit on the floor of the tub and call out for my husband (who luckily works at home). He sat with me while I rinsed off and helped me out of the tub.
My midwife mentioned on Friday hat my unusually high resting pulse (110) could be an indication of anemia. I've been getting out of breath while walking, too, and I've been tired throughout this pregnancy (though I thought that was normal). Anyway, in the last three days or so, I've been feeling a lot more fatigued. I'm fairly certain that she's correct. I relaxed this afternoon, ate an accidentally iron-rich lunch (full of lentils and pumpkin seeds and raisins), had a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, and sent my husband to get Floradix from the co-op. I took a nice long nap. I still feel off and tired but nowhere near as bad as I felt in the shower.
I called my mom and asked her if she was ever anemic throughout her pregnancies. She told me that she was always very anemic, and fainted once as a result (at around 12 weeks as well). She eats a lot of red meat so obviously it's not that - I was worried that I'm anemic because I don't eat very much meat at all. I'm getting blood tests on Thursday so that should confirm that that's what's actually happening. Until then, no crazy long walks… not that I even feel like it at this point.
As for the UTI, the symptoms come and go, but it's starting to feel better now. My midwife mentioned that there was protein in my urine so it probably is an infection, and it's probably going away slowly. Fingers crossed!
