Sell me your toaster oven ;)

I've no clue about toaster ovens. I used to use my grandmother's to heat toast when I was like, 7 years old, but I've never had one as an adult. I'm considering chucking the microwave and replacing it with a toaster oven, but I'm not sure what size or even brand to get.

I'd like to use our new toaster oven for reheating meals mostly, but it would be nice to be able to do a little bit of small baking in there (i.e. a couple of cookies instead of a whole pan of them and eating them all in one day... by myself... lol)

We're a family of three (hoping for more in the near future), but would prefer low-price and quality, and something that takes up less counter space than our microwave does over something more expensive and bigger or more extravagant.

My parents went with a counter top convection oven. Best thing ever!
They are not all that expensive either.

I honestly didn't know there was a difference. A countertop convection oven (vs a toaster oven) is more of what I'm looking for.

(Still looking for suggestions on brands/models!)

We have an Oster brand convection toaster that has been very reliable. It's older so not sure what model, but it is a smaller one.

I think most toaster ovens aren't great for reheating food. It takes a while to warm all the way through foods and we would usually needed to cover it with foil or something to keep food from drying out or getting too crispy which is a waste. A larger model might not have the same issues, but then you're looking at something at least as large as a microwave. I've found the stove top to be much faster for reheating food.

I do love the toaster for keeping things warm and for, well toaster stuff, like cheese toast. It's great for reheating pizza slices and we use it for small batches of cookies or biscuits and such. Recently our regular oven was acting up, turning off in the middle of baking and refusing to turn back on. During that time I used the toaster oven to cook some real meals like chicken and it did a great job.
