I'm heading off to Central Africa with my one and three year olds in early January, and I'm looking for some first aid kit ideas. Here at home we're heavily reliant on probiotics, but I can't bring those because I can't keep them cool in transit. We'll be gone for three months. My kids both have respiratory troubles and eczema. Last time I was there I had an insane amount of trouble with a yeast infection, so I'm a little paranoid about that. We can easily get conventional abx, bandaids, etc while we're there, so I'm looking more for preventative and/or alternative remedies. Everything needs to be shelf stable and not too damaged by heat (avg temps are 25-30C). Any remedies for either killing or preventing parasites, amoebas, etc would be appreciated, as well as ideas for non-toxic hand sanitizer type things. Hand shaking is BIG, even with tiny babies, and I'm not going to be keeping my kids from playing in the dirt, with the goats, other kids, etc, but we won't always have access to soap and water during the day when we're out. I don't believe a little dirt is any sort of harmful, but I don't want to push my luck as I know they will be exposed to hepatitis, parasites, worms, etc.
So far, I'm planning on bringing CLO for all of us, Kindervit for 3y/o dd, a bottle small bottle of apple cider vinegar (you can't get normal vinegar without paying an arm and a leg), a tube of our normal wound care cream, tto, and a bottle of elderberry syrup. What would you add? I already feel like this is going to be taking up an insane amount of my valuable packing real estate!
