What Are the "Standard" Vaccinations for a 2 Month Old?

My husband and I are doing selective/delayed vaccinations, and our pediatrician wants to discuss our plan at our two month check up next month. I have no idea which ones are considered "standard" and will be offered to us. I'd like to do some research before hand so we can make an informed decision on which ones we think our son should have and when. We have already had him get the first Hepatitis B shot, and he will be getting the second dose at the next visit. But I have no idea what the other options are, so if anyone can fill me in, I'd appreciate it!

hepatitis B

rotavirus

DTaP (diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis)

Hib

pneumococcal (Prevnar)

polio

This is what was given in 1983 to 2 month olds.

Thanks! Wow, we sure did get quite a few less when we were kids... I'm glad I have a few weeks to research this. I don't even know what some of those are.

In 1983 it may have made some sense to give the polio vaccine, but in 2011, it does not. The last case of wild polio in the U.S. (not caused by the vaccine) was in 1979 -- 32 years ago! Until 1999, there were several cases of polio in the U.S. annually, caused by the live virus oral polio vaccine, which is no longer given (because it gave some people polio).

Unless you think there's a realistic chance your child could be the first person in the U.S. to get wild polio in 32+ years, you can probably count on hearing about an outbreak on the news, and then make a vaccine decision at that point.

You may be able to significantly decrease your baby's risk of developing asthma later in childhood by delaying the 1st DTaP dose until at least 4 months.
