Super clingy 4yo and a new baby on the way

DD is going to turn 4 when my next is due. She has always been ultra clingy and freaks out if she wakes up and I'm not facing her in bed. She has always been this way and it's more to do with her personality than something she will grow out of soon, I think. I don't know why she freaks about it, but she does. If I don't roll over and face her, she acts like I've just told her I hate her and don't love her anymore.

I refuse to move her out of our bed, so that's not an option. I was planning on putting the new baby in a sidecarred crib next to our king bed and put DD between me and DH. I'm worried about her freaking out when the new baby gets here because I'll have to face new baby almost all of the night for breastfeeding and safety reasons.

Any ideas on how I can help DD feel loved, attended and cared for at night while my back is turned? DH is autistic and doesn't like to be touched while he's resting, so he won't be able to help soothe her and DD hates my singing, so that's out. lol.gif I can't think of anything else past just talking to her and she doesn't like blankets, stuffed toys or lovies. Just hoping some mamas out there can think of something I haven't already. My preggo brain isn't functioning up to par.

When I sleep alone with the two kids in bed, I face the nursling all night and sling my top-most arm over the body of the big kid on the other side.  I have convinced him this qualifies as holding! :D
