What is the hardest patch for sleeping with a infant in the family bed?

Hi, everyone

We co-slept with our first child for about 5 years and now have a 6 month old in our bed.  I'm 10 years older now...not sure if that has anything to do with it or not but I'm tired!  It's not terrible but I would be comforted to know when the most challenging time is for a co-sleeping family.  If I'm in it -- AWESOME!!  If not, it will be helpful for me to be able to prepare a little mentally and be aware of when I can expect a little more sleep.

Thanks!

For us it was the first 6 months.  I have had 2 in bed at a time for a few years.  We just had baby number 6 and number 5 is in our bed (he's 2)

What makes it difficult is when baby wakes, I have to try and get out of the bedroom or quiet baby before toddler get up.  More than once he's woken toddler and then I've been up half the night.

We have me, my hubby and both my twin girls in our queen bed. They are 6 months now and until 4 days ago family bed worked really well for us. Now they are teething and waking every hour or so screaming. I would be dealing with this if they were in their own bed too but I am super tired right now!

I guess the only thing I can say to you is every child is different and the right thing to do is what works for your family. Maybe it is not working and it may be time to think of an alternative? We are trying something new tonight, hopefully more sleep is in my future. Best of luck!!
