Is it safe for my to sleep on my stomach while co-sleeping?

*Sorry-- is safe for me to sleep on my stomach...

My son is 9 months old, and I used to sleep on my side with him right next to me, facing me. But as he's gotten older, I've started to sleep on my stomach more, my traditional and favorite position. I've been noticing the side position mentioned in most writing about co-sleeping, because it's so conducive to responding to and protecting baby. I'm sure I sleep better/more deeply on my stomach, but does that mean I'm more out of touch with my baby or wouldn't wake if there was a problem? Any thoughts on this, or experience from other stomach sleepers? Thanks!

Once I was able to sleep on my stomach again, I had no worries about doing so.  I have never heard that there would be any issue with stomach (or back) sleeping, especially with an older infant.

There are a couple reasons I wouldn't be concerned:

1) are you more likely to roll off the bed when you sleep on your side instead of your stomach?  Then why more likely to roll on the baby.

2) Your baby is old (and i assume big) enough that if you actually did roll on him for a minute, I'm sure his kicking would wake you up!
