Really really hard water and the dishwasher

HELP! I cannot find a diswasher soap that will take those annoying white spots off of my dishes. Our water is super hard and causes all my glasses to become milky white. Already tried 7th generation and a weird German brand that I cannot remember how to spell right now. We have also tried rinse aids and baking soda. I would like to stay healthy and eco-friendly...any suggestions?

the only thing that works for us (and we also have hard water) is the Cascade Complete gel.  I've tried so many other types of cleaners and this one wins hands down.

Have you tried adding 1/4c vinegar to the rinse?  We have high calcium levels in our water that etc glass and can also leave chunks of calcium deposits in the dishwasher.  We use regular Cascade and add vinegar to the rinse and this keeps the calcium offenses at bay.

^^^ We have painfully hard water and I use vinegar as our rinse aid (in that little compartment next to the detergent).  Works like a charm.  And the machine automatically tells me when I need to refill.

Vinegar made it SO much worse! Weird I know, but it gave my glasses a white cloudy layer.

The only thing that has worked for me is Lemi Shine powder. It made a huge difference.

We have extremely hard water, too.  I use vinegar as the rinse agent, but I also add Borax (all natural laundry booster and multipurpose house cleaner) to the wash cycle.  In the past, I have run the dishwasher with Glass Magic. (I do not think that this is all natural, though, but it does work better than anything I've run across in the 20 or so years I've lived with this very hard water, including those products with lemon.)

Citric acid. It's what makes Lemi Shine work, which a PP mentioned. Buy it in massive amounts on Amazon.

Fixed it! I found a product that is a natural de-calcifier it's called Sodasan. Finally have clean dishes!!!

I've been using lemi shine, but it's so expensive. I have a big bag of citric acid, though.  ALittleBitCrunchy, how much do you use per load?
