Do I wake him? Need advice NOW...

My 10 month old has not been sleeping well and we have working really hard on getting him sleep for more than and hour at a time. He wouldn't go down for his usual afternoon nap around 3-4 and fell asleep at 6:15 in the stroller when we went to the store... so he has already been sleeping for almost 2 hrs and gentle attempts to wake him aren't working. I am worried that he needs the sleep and it will help him learn to sleep for longer periods, but also that he will be up ALL NIGHT! (he was already up until 1am last night after a half hour nap at 4:30). This is the longest nap he's had in weeks!

Should I wake him or let him sleep?

OK, couldn't read and not respond.

Personally, I think that if he fell asleep at 6:15 and he's slept for a while, it doesn't really matter. If you do manage to wake him up, he'll be up a long time. If you don't, he could possibly sleep a long time because he's so tired. Or he could wake and stay up late. (In other words, you're messed up either way.)

I'd say let him sleep. And if at all possible you sleep too. If you can sleep when he does it will help you either way.

Thanks for responding... he woke up at 8:30 insisting to nurse and then went right back to sleep. Guess I'll go get some rest since he'll prob be up at 4am ready to play : )
