So, with Halloween approaching, I was wondering if you will be doing anything unique or special to help your SN child a) enjoy the holiday, b) cope with the costumes and changes and c) deal with the candy. Feel free to add whatever other things will be different in your households.

Our DD has high functioning Autism. She loves dressing up in costumes and enjoys that part of Halloween tremendously. She's not so keen on the OTHER kids being dressed up because then she doesn't know who they are. That has been very scary for her in the past. She also didn't want to do the door knocking part of the evening until last year. Every Halloween we go to the party at the Municipal hall put on by the firefighters. It raises funds for their children's charity and it's a nice safe place to go. We go early so DD doesn't have to deal with too many crowds of people. Candy is a problem for us because she's not allowed artificial colors and flavors in her diet. We do let her eat chocolate and let he keep whatever chocolate she gets in her loot bag. But it's hard taking stuff away from her like that.

DS is NT and he just ADORES Halloween, candy, crowds, bouncy castles and all the fun that goes with the night.
