house temp question

Our house felt FREEZING last night- my husband would like to keep it at 58 degrees at night- WAY too cold for me - and LO's hands were like ice.  What do you heat your homes at- day/night?

If baby is in your bed with you, I wouldn't worry.  However, if baby is sleeping in a co-sleeper, or a crib, I would generally think that was way too cold.  If your LO's hands are cold, I would take it as a sign to bump up the heat slightly.  I don't worry about temp as much during the day, but I find that my little ones sleep better if they're not cold, and I want them to sleep as best as they can!!!

One option might be to get a good, safe space heater of some sort for the room that baby will be sleeping in.  We keep the rest of our house pretty frigid too until DH builds a fire in the evening.  Our electricity is SO inefficient and expensive.  And I'm often wearing the baby anyway, and have her under a blanket, so she stays all toasty even if the house is freezing.  But at night we have a separate heater for our bedroom, in case it gets chilly.  Then you're not heating the whole house, which seems silly, but you can still keep the place where LO is sleeping at a good temp.

We keep our house at 67 degrees-ish at night. We have a wood stove, and that seems to be the optimal temp for little ones.

66-68, the room where we sleep is the hottest. He is fine at night. During the day, no matter how hot it is, his hands are ice boxes. ALWAYS.

We keep our living area around 68, but the bedrooms are way colder. In fact we usually sleep with the window open at night even when it is freezing outside, so normally our bedroom is somewhere between 40 and 50F around this time a year and maybe around 55 during the day. DS2 sleeps in bed with me and usually wears a sleeper and a sleeping bag. He also shares my duvet, but his upper body and head normally stick out.

We usually don't have to worry about this as we were running the air until yesterday.

Last night the temps took a dip though and the house temp got down to 70. She sleeps in a cosleeper (I tried w/ her in the bed w/ me but she is too noisy and I get no sleep). I bundled her up in fleece PJs and then her fleece swaddler so her hands were covered. I probably wouldn't go below the mid to upper 60s w/o turning on some heat.

LOL_ I also have a very noisy baby who also becomes VERY active in his sleep after first pm feeding- makes me consider a crib but Im not ready to not have him right with me yet- but he's sleeping WAY better than i am, that's for sure!!!!

Mags is within an arm's reach but for some reason I can sleep through her noises that way but not if she's right up next to me.

we also have the arms reach cosleeper- he goes in at night when he goes down and stays until first feeding- then im too tired to put him back most nights.  He also tried to butt up against me if I move over at all!!  :)

I freeze to death if its below 70.  DH thinks I'm crazy.  Sara Beth is like her daddy and sort of hot natured and gets hot at night.  Ada is more like me and does not like to be cold at all.  So we try to keep the temp at the very least 70 but some mornings it does get in the upper 60's in here if its been a really cold night.  Even if the house temp is set at 70 I still like to use a space heater just for me....I been freezing since I gave birth!

We keep it at 68 during the day and 65 at night.

does anyone else have a babe with freezing hands??

70 during the day and 65 or 66 at night.  Baby sleeps in a footie sleeper and a velcro-tabbed swaddler, and sometimes I put a blanket over his bottom half.  If he's in bed with me, then he gets blankets on his bottom half as well, but he often overheats that way!

Yes, he totally has cold hands during the day.  If they are really cold, I put another layer on him.

Charlie's can get pretty cold, especially since he likes them covered in spit. If I warm up the rest of them, they follow though :)

Ada's hands get cold too.  I have to keep a blanket on her to keep her warm so that her hands stay warm.  If her hands are cold she's usually whining about it.  She likes to be warm.

Yes! Especially at nighttime. Not much I can do, he hates having his hands covered.
