How bad is Amalgam?

Can anyone give me links proving how bad the Amalgam fillings are? I have read stuff on here but I need more convincing. I'm nursing my 14 month old and will be TTC in less than a year, so this is concerning for me. I need about 6 fillings spread among 3 molars, one molar needing attention asap. I don't even think they do amalgam at my dentist so the price for composites is almost 400 bucks total. Money is really tight right now but I don't want to poison myself because we're broke. I need advice :(

well amalgams are about 60% mercury that leaks into your system. Composites are half flouride which is also bad for you.  I went with a composite even though I have thyroid disease. Took out a few amalgams and replaced with composite. There are other brands of composite btu I can't remember what they are. So sucks all around. I am guessing for now mercury is deadlier than flouride :/

oh btw after I got like 5 amalgams I came down with an incurable severely painful autoimmune disorder. i did nothing else but have that dentist appt. 10 years later it's better but those first 10 were excruciatingly painful. A year before I did get inocculated... but it ironically all went down theday after my dentist appt :(

oh .. and yes my child turned out autistic. I am hoping the removal of the bigger amalgams will help if there is a second baby
