Croup in older children

Thread Starter

My 9 year old is just recovering from a bad bout of croup, which my 5 year old has just picked up and is suffering from at the minute.  My 9 yo has always been prone to croup (as I was, even hospitalized with it as a baby), but I thought he would have grown out of it by now.  But this time seems to have been just as bad as ever.  (Not needing hospitalization but a few bad barky cough for several days and nights, plus fever.  He has had it for a week and is still exhausted from it)

Does anyone else have experience of an older child still getting group?  At what age did they grow out of it?
