Trying to decide if we're setting our future child up for a lifetime of confusion with classes and people mistaking their name for the other sex.
What do you assume when you hear the name Adlee / Adli / Adley ? Would you guess boy or girl?

Girl. And I like it spelled Adley the best. Adli makes me feel dyslexic, and I see Aldi (grocery store).
I think girl, also. And I'm for the spelling Adley as well...
What about Hadley, if you're having a boy? Close, but sounds more masculine to me...
Girl. And I third the Adley spelling.
I say girl as well and I agree with Adley for the spelling. I think the "ee" sound at the end is girl, but the "ad" part is hard and strong, which tends to be more masculine. So overall I feel the name is a boyish girl name, tomboy.
I'm so happy to hear these responses so far! We originally heard it as a boys name, and I loved loved loved it-- but DH pointed out that he liked it more as a girl's name, which got me thinking about it...
My first choices are Adelyn, Addison, and Harper, so it fits nicely with the overall 'feel' of what I'm going with- something a bit contemporary, but as you pointed out Jaimee-- I don't want it overwhelmingly girly and 'pretty'.
Our middle name top runner has been Grace, so that still works, Adley Grace. Although I might find something a bit longer and more... expressive for a middle name.
Girl
I love Harper for a girl, too!
I would think it was a girl, because any time the gender of a name is unclear, the answer immediately becomes "girl." Parents rarely give unisex-sounding names to their sons.
I like Harper, because of the author Harper Lee.
I *LOVE* Harper, but DH isn't in love with it. I think after the birth, I could convince him to give in, but I know he doesn't really want it, so I want to find something we both love.
His first choice is Tenley, but I feel the same way about that one as he does about Harper.
