Detox before TTC

We are going to start TTC for baby #3 in few months. I have been having a lot of trouble with my knee and been taking way more pain killers than I would ever take and may have to have knee surgery soon. I have also been over indulging in coffee, pop, and junk food.

 

I am wondering what others have done to 'detox', 'power up', or otherwise 'get healthy' before TTC.

I think it's a great idea to detox, eat clean  before trying to concieve.

I did an olive oil cleanse last week.. I took out all processed foods - we eat at home A LOT. I recently got off omeprazole - I use Chia seeds for my acid reflux now. I've been taking prenatals for the last year.

I've read that losing weight is a way to detox before TTC because many toxins are stored in body fat. Also exercising til you sweat can release some toxins through your pores. Drinking a lot of water is another good way to get those toxins out of the body. Thats about all I know. I'm personally a little skeptical about some of those detox diets. Just eating organic and staying away from the bad stuff is what I try to do. Drinking filtered water, cleaning with natural products like vinegar, water, baking soda, lemon juice, etc. and using natural body care products without chemicals like parabens, pthalates, PPGs, fragrances, and petrochemicals. Always check the ingredients of anything you buy and knowing what to look for and stay away from helps. a good website that I really like is, preventcancer.com  It has some great lists of things to avoid.
