Weeks/Days along: 12 weeks today!

Appointments: none until Nov. 15th :)

Symptoms: Nausea came back this last week and I have a new one....diarrhea! REALLY? It sucks so freaking bad.

Food: I love food, but I don't want anything to eat until later at night.

Exercise: eh....not really. I have been too busy with the other 3 kids!

Body changes and other milestones: Officially need the maternity jeans now. I swear I feel little thumps late at night :)

Thoughts: I am so excited and nervous that I am done with my first trimester! Only 6 more months!

Name: Alyssa

Weeks/Days along:10 weeks, 1 day

Appointments: 2nd appt on Nov 18

Symptoms: now puking daily every morning, sometimes I have a pre-bedtime puke too.

Food: Still grossed out by the thought of most things, but if food is placed in front of me, I can generally eat it. Still strongly preferring bland and/or sour foods.

Exercise: Finally had the energy to get to the gym this week! And took a 4 mile walk today. So happy to be back at it!

Body changes and other milestones: Definitely starting to pop out. Shamelessly wore a pair of lowrise maternity jeans this weekend. Mostly the problem is I can stand my clothes too tight and my uterus is popping out at an awkward places for pants-fastening.

Thoughts: Getting really excited!

Name: maryam

Weeks/Days along: 13w 3d

Appointments: midwives in a couple weeks

Symptoms: still a tiny bit nauseous/sensitive to smells. I have a bigger appetite even though I'm honestly not eating enough (I get full easily). otherwise… nothing.

Food: getting healthier. still need to work on eating more vegetables though.

Exercise: almost none, except for cutting down a massive hedge at our new house with a lopper and dragging huge branches down the driveway. and marching 4 miles around Oakland against police brutality. I'm really looking forward to being able to exercise again.

Body changes and other milestones: the bump is getting bigger and more pronounced. I still don't look pregnant I think (I'm noticing that a lot of people's "normal" bellies are bigger than my pregnant one) so no comments from people yet.

Thoughts: they redid the urine culture and this time confirmed that I have a raging UTI. I tried every natural remedy without any improvement, so I'm taking antibiotics now (Keflex). it's terrible. I've been really tired, out of it, and gassy. I feel like I'm complaining a lot here and I feel bad about it, but this UTI has been the hardest part of pregnancy so far. I'm two days into treatment and the symptoms are all gone. I really wish I could stop taking this stuff now, but I know that wouldn't be a good idea.

I still feel anemic. I'm waiting on blood test results. Otherwise, everything is checking out good. My thyroid levels aren't exactly where I'd want them (my free T4 dropped a bit since 8 weeks), but they're within range at least.

This week we're moving and coordinating with contractors. I also have to do homework, take a midterm, grade 60 student quizzes, so it's going to be tough few days. our 8th anniversary is coming up on the 8th and I'm really looking forward to that :)

Name:   Katie

Weeks/Days along:  12w1d

Appointments:  My first one is tomorrow!  I really, really hope we can hear the heartbeat. My mw said that we may not, especially since I have a tipped uterus and if the placenta is anterior, that makes it harder too (not sure if it is this time around).  It was with my ds and I heard him at 13 weeks (they didn't try before that) and I heard my dd at 12 weeks. So I know if I don't hear it, I will absolutely panic.  If we hear it, we're going to tell the kids and everyone else the news too!

Symptoms:  Overall, feeling good. I'm still tired. Not crazy tired like I was where I needed to sleep for 12 hours but if I get less than 8 hours, I feel exhausted.

Food:  I have a strong appetite.  Still craving cheeses and spicy foods.

Exercise:  None really. I want to start getting into it again since I'm feeling better but we've been busy and then I'll feel really tired.....

Body changes and other milestones:  My belly shrunk, I think. Maybe bloat went away? But I'm still big, especially at night. We haven't told anyone I'm pregnant (except dh told his mom and made her promise not to tell anyone), but yesterday we went to a wedding and one of dh's aunts says to me, "Are you showing?"  I mumbled something about having had 2 kids and just finishing eating and she says, "I won't say anything. Your secret is safe with me." It was really odd that she would say anything to begin with and also sound so sure about it. I made dh ask his mom if she told her but before he had a chance his mom came up to him and told him that the aunt asked her at the wedding if I was pregnant. She said she didnt' think so and that was that but I feel like her question of "Are you showing?" As opposed to "Are you pregnant?" made it sound like she knew something.  Who knows. It was really strange.

Thoughts:  Just very nervous and excited about the appointment tomorrow.  I'm really hoping for a heartbeat!

Weeks: 12 on Thursday

Appointments: Friday.  I'm actually going to a new chiropractor AND the midwife.  We'll see if I like either.  I think this midwife has a much more medical approach than my last, so...we'll see.

Symptoms: Really mild, if I've slept.  If I don't sleep I feel exhausted (of course), and sicker.  And mouthy.  Sometimes I wake up REALLY hungry. And my heart is still weird.  But....I haven't been sleeping.  Dd3 is up a lot at night...like I'm disturbed in some way 10 times an hour.  Blah.  Last night was better, though.  She only got me up 3 times, and dh slept in the other room.   And we've been using our woodstove and our bedroom is hot and being hot always messes it up.

Exercise: We live in the country so our dogs don't NEED walked, but I've been walking mine down our (long) driveway.  His collar is too small, though, so we stopped that until I can get to the store.  I've been taking it easy because of sleeping so poorly again, and the heart thing.  Running up the stairs is the worst.  It sets it off like crazy.

Changes/Milestones: Pants are getting uncomfortable.  And I'm another one who isn't really "glowing."  I, too, am loosing hair.  I've read up on the throid thing, and I might mention it, especially because of the heart thing, and I have painful joints.  But...I've had spurts of that my whole life...seems to be related to mold, and I had my throid checked in my first pgncy when my heart was racing and it was good.  So?

But, after my first pregnancy, I always loose hair in the beginning.  I don't loose it after birth, though.  And it's not a HUGE amount.  It just seems like it because I've not lost any in so long.  It's like my hormones got a little whacked after my first baby.   So, my body holds on to the hair until I start to cut back nursing sessions?  But, I'm always early in pregnancy by then.  Anyway, that's when I loose hair.

Weeks/Days along: 10w 1d

Appointments: Midwife appointment at 7 weeks. Next one is scan at 12 weeks. I went for a private scan at 8 weeks as I was desperately worried about another miscarriage. I really needed some reassurance. Little bean was the right size for dates and I saw heart beating, so now a bit more relaxed. I felt a little bad as I don't want to have more scans than necessary, but I just too nervous.

Symptoms: Still some nausea, though it's getting better. Very sensitive to smell and aversions to quite a lot of foods. Still very tired, but I think that's getting better too.

Food: Trying to eat healthy. I gained a lot on my last pregnancies and would like to gain less this time.

Exercise: Lots of walking. DP is away a lot right now, so with work, kids, house, and a siesta when I can grab it, I am not finding much time out!

Body changes and other milestones: My pants are much tighter, but I look bloated rather than pregnant. Unfortunately I don't get those lovely pronounced, compact bumps - I just seem to expand all over...

Thoughts:  I feel like I have a deadline (May 26th) before which I have to get my life sorted. I have my own business and I would like to sell it or at least have someone else manage it. I've been thinking this for a while now, but now I actually have to take some action. Or, I don't know how I'm going to cope :(

I meant to wait til week 12 before telling anyone, but I've told a few good (and discreet) friends. I felt so bad not saying anything. Also, they are people I would certainly tell if things didn't turn out well, so it makes sense.

Name:   Janelle

Weeks/Days along:  12w today

Appointments:  Next one is November 14 I believe.. I am on a once a month cycle which is fun!  I planned my 18 week appointment for December 12 which is gender ultrasound day!  So I am just waiting for December really!!

Symptoms:  Still sick to my stomach.  I have had a cold the past week and it seems that have worsened my symptoms?  I am hoping I start to get better soon but I say this every week!!!  Ugh.

Food:   Finally starting to crave healthy food again, salad is what I want all the time now.  I also am able to drink crystal light again so I don't need to drink juice all day long (oh man the calories!!)

Exercise:  Not until I start feeling better.

Body changes and other milestones:  I still look "Fat" instead of pregnant.

Thoughts:  I do think more about how our lives are going to change.  It's weird, I have been waiting for this my whole life, but still it's not real until there is a baby growing in your belly.  You really don't get the idea until that happens and now I am just amazed every day at the thought of a real living baby in there.  It's crazy, right?

Name: Erin

Weeks/Days along: 12

Appointments: Next week I think.

Symptoms: Food aversions, other than that my nausea is pretty much gone except at night.

Food: Anything spicy. I could eat a whole bag of japaleno chips if I'd let myself. I'm craving huevos rancheros, lots of green chili and beef and japaleno pizza. Nothing sweet sounds good. I made some pumpkin bread last week and I didn't eat any of it. Sweet just blech.

Exercise: Walking and doing some prenatal yoga.

Body changes and other milestones: I am starting to look pregnant, but not cute pregnant. Fat pregnant. My growing baby is pushing all my fluff up and out so I look quite "poochy". I'm wearing maternity clothes most of the time. We're going to visit my grandparents (the ones we haven't told) this week, we'll see if they say anything.

Thoughts: I still feel like I'm in that "in between" stage. To be totally honest I'm ready to be big enough that you can definitely tell that I'm pregnant rather that just wondering. I can feel the top of my uterus, it's already about a finger below my belly button. I'm hoping that's because this is my 5th baby and not because there is more than one in there. When I lay on my stomach (I'm a stomach sleeper anyway), I feel like I'm laying on a volleyball, so I've had to start sleeping differently. The kids are excited to learn how big the baby is and what is developing new each week, it's kind of cool. I've got an appointment with the chiropractor next week. I went my entire pregnancy last time and I really feel like it made a huge difference in how comfortable I was and how I handled the birth.

Name: Maggie

Weeks/Days along: 11weeks2days

Appointments: next one is Nov 23 with my ob/gyn.

Symptoms: slight nausea in the evenings still no vomiting.. tired, constipated and somewhat moody

Food: loving carbs, but eating lots of veggies and fruit

Exercise: walking, yoga

Body changes and other milestones: getting a bigger tummy, but still just look fat.

Thoughts: thinking about buying maternity clothing soon!!

Weeks/Days along: 13 weeks :)

Appointments: First Midwife apt sometime in the next two weeks. So excited to hear the heartbeat!

Symptoms: I have to pee more than normal. Definitely weepy, oh dear lord am I weepy.

Food: Right now I am chowing down bell peppers I stuffed with fresh basil and cream cheese, and fried cabbage with beef bacon and noodles. *drool*

Exercise: Uh. *burp* I'm going to get right on that. Today in fact. Seriously.

Body changes and other milestones: My boobs are firmer which I like, I feel huge and can no longer lay on tum. I'm so gassy it is embarassing. I think it is all the basil, and cilantro I am piling on my salad.

Thoughts:

Only 6 more months! I have made  7 diapers for babe, almost done knitting a wool blanket/wrap, and also have the mei tei I made. I am thinking of going in 4-5 weeks to find out what sex babe is. It will make planning a lot easier for us and also allow us to pick out a name. I'm not hoping for a boy or girl, but a part of me thinks another girl would be nice. That is what we are use to raising. A boy would be sweet also, and I think every husband wants a son just like every Mom wants a daughter. Regardless, as long as it is healthy we are more than blessed.

Name:  Sarah

Weeks/Days along: 13 weeks today!

Appointments: Not until the end of November

Symptoms: Same as always + severe heartburn

Food: Pretty much everything.  The saltier, the better.  I can only eat small amounts at a time though.  And I go from being starving, to stuffed, to starving again in the span of like 30 minutes.  That's sort of annoying.  I bought tons of fresh fruit, but it doesn't even fill me up.  I think I could eat a whole lb. of apples and still be hungry!

Exercise: Walking.  Just a short distance (maybe 2 blocks) every morning.

Body changes and other milestones: Belly is growing, it's starting to get uncomfortable to lay on my stomach.  That kinda stinks, since I'm a stomach sleeper.

Thoughts:  I can't believe how fast it's gone already!  I (I say "I" because SO already wanted one) decided to go ahead and get an U/S to find out the gender.  I'm excited about that.  We'll wait until at least 20 weeks, so not too much longer!

ETA: I forgot to mention the weepiness!  Poor SO.  I'm usually a pretty emotional person anyway, but this is crazy.

Weeks/Days along:12w 5d

Appointments: An ultrascreen today, everything looks good and healthy

Symptoms: I'm with you again Janellody, nausea is back, sick to my stomach all day long. Come on! Hopefully the next week or two will shed some relief on this situation. It sucks. Still zitty, still greasy, still emotional. I've also started feeling dizzy when I'm sitting down. That's no fun.

Food:Anything and everything. Eating constantly.

Exercise: Tried to start yoga again last week when it looked like I was feeling a bit better.

Body changes and other milestones: Belly is popping out a bit more every day.

Thoughts: I'm starting to get nervous that I will be one of those ladies that experiences morning sickness through my entire pregnancy. That would be so terrible! I told everyone at work today (via my Halloween costume) and posted pictures of my costume on FaceBook, so it's been exciting to share the news. When I talk about it I don't feel sick, I think it's just because my mind is off it for a while.

The ultrasound was so cool today, we could see it moving around and it's little feet were crossed at the ankles! TOO CUTE!

You know your body better than anyone else! If you still want to get your thyroid checked, make sure your Dr./nurse/midwife orders free T4 and free T3 tests. The hormone they usually test for (TSH) doesn't always give an accurate reading of your thyroid functioning. I've always had normal TSH levels but low fT4 and fT3. Somehow I don't think your issue is thyroid-related, though.

I found the fishy pool for those interested :) Definitely going to get one of these if I don't like the one my midwife has. It will have to ship from austrailia, but I'm a picky one and will pay it if I have to. lol

Name: layne

Weeks/Days along: 11 weeks

Appointments: none so far except ER for bleeding and a couple of checkups with regular primary care

Symptoms: HUGENESS - have gained at least 15 pounds.  sore boobs.  tired all the time.  the burps.

Food:  nothing sounds good but I manage to eat too much anyway.

Exercise: after the bleeding, I quit everything, but hopefully my obgyn will say I can go back to yoga, running, lifting, and walking ASAP.

Body changes and other milestones:  my dr. thought I looked more like 5 months today.  This is alarming.  The rest of me is not getting as fat as usual though, which is sort of nice.

Thoughts: ugh.

I have a raging sinus infection and a banged up ankle and am spending halloween in bed, alternately dizzy and nauseous.  I called 211 today and found out I have been approved for medicaid and should get my letter this week.  Thank God I can finally see an OBGYN.  I really feel like crap but think that is just my sinuses.

HA!  I ask Joe every day whether I look cute pregnant or just fat!  You'll be adorable pregnant in no time if you aren't already from the sounds of it.  I am getting due date questions from strangers now, which is weird so early, so I am wondering if there are two in there too, which is even more nervewracking since my general practitioner suggested that maybe the ER us mised something today and couldn't resist feeling my belly to see if it really was as big as it looked (almost, but not quite - about an inch from my bellybutton when I lie down and higher when I stand up).

Definitely feeling the baby move alot. I have been drinking 1/2 gallon of rrl tea a day now and I don't know if it is coincidental or not but I am feeling tons more uterine activity, and the baby too!

I want to feel the baby move!!  I thought I felt something last night, but it was way too high to be the baby. :(

I have an annoying cold that won't go away.  I get this same thing every year.  Nasal and chest congestion and a cough.  It's so annoying.  I haven't taken anything for it yet, I keep thinking it'll go away.  I hasn't yet.  Does anyone know if elderberry syrup is okay to take?

Onemore-I'd love your diaper pattern.  I've made some by stretching out a one-size cover I have, but I'd rather have a few good newborn fitteds.  I have a whole bunch of old towels waiting for a project!  And hurrah on feeling the baby so much.  I can't WAIT to feel it morel.
