I know I said I'd be okay to not do it until after baby, but I'm really starting to itch for some action. lol I don't want to wait 9 or 10 weeks, instead of 6 weeks. Here's to hoping DH is up for it too. winky.gif

Okay, so after transitioning ds to his own room we have DTD twice in the last week.  Both times- nothing.  Not even contractions.  The exterior is all hypersensitive and I'm rearing to go, but then the interior is like a big numb cave.  Is it just too swollen/engorged?  Anything I can do?  I am hesitant to try other positions b/c honestly most other positions, historically, have not worked well (like from the back and side laying).  I have no interest being on top as I know that my legs would cramp and that would be super sexy... leaping off to stand flat footed on the floor.  eyesroll.gif

Leaping?? You are limber! If I was on top and had to get up, it'd be more like a flop and then I'd have to wiggle around for a bit like a bug stuck on it's back. ROTFLMAO.gif

Oh man, when those cramps hit it's all I can to not leap.  The other night I was holding ds upright to stop his coughing and get him to go back to sleep.  A cramp came on just as I adjusted my position to lay him down and I half fell out of the bed, put my foot in his little potty that was on the floor, practically fell over and almost dropped him.  This is how my nights are going right now...

Surprisingly on top ends up being more comfortable for me. And I tend to get hip cramps pretty easily in general. I think it was sometime in the second trimester we were DTD and I got a leg cramp on top. I put my legs back super straight, laying right on top of him just bellowing like a dying whale. So not sexy. Lol. I didn't get any leg cramps after that one though. And I think the position actually helps stretch my legs & hips. Last week I had absolutely horrid inner thigh, hip, pelvic pain but I was a trooper and we DTD (missionary, pillows propped behind me) and afterward, my pain was almost gone. Its like the stretching in that position did me some good I think. So we're trying to stay regular. Shooting for 2-3 times a week. Gimme them prostaglandins!

OMG funniest mental image ever ROTFLMAO.gif

The only position I can enjoy these days is on top, so I get what that's like! It's so hard getting up afterward that DH and I have burst into laughter a few times as I laid on his chest trying to figure it out. lol.gif  Then he jokes with me that that's our "spinning babies" position. He sees it like the pelvis tilts I do on all fours on the floor. Lovely. LOL

Jaimee - I just started experiencing that whole "numb interior" feeling too. It SUCKS! Took me forever to O yesterday. irked.gif

I am certainly not leaping, either!  I'd be all like OMG HELP ME HELP ME HELP ME and wait for DH to do something.  Then he'd be all like "what is WRONG?!" and I'd have to explain and yeah, let's just hope I don't get leg cramps anytime soon.

I find that I am in the mood to DTD but then it just doesn't deliver as well.  Ugh.  So weird.  I think external, ahem, pleasure would work better but like I said, it freaks me out.  Le sigh.  No prostaglandins for me.

My hips don't cramp until the moment we're done, then everything seizes and I often have to jump up.  Maybe this is why my DH is avoiding, ha ha ha.  Every time we finish I roll off in some sort of pain (contraction or cramping).  However, while we're doing it I'm in no pain at all, none, so it's worth it.  ;)

Yes.  I get ctx too, well, used to when i managed to O. haha!  But it's so not sexy and must not be all that encouraging to poor DH- like oh wow great sex OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH

Luckily I O way easier when I'm pregnant.  It really doesn't take much, which probably adds to why I'm so interested.  I know that it's really hard to O pp until my AF comes back (around 12mo), which sucks.

How does the straddling work with your SPD?  I'm terrified of trying to be on top because I really can't imagine straddling anything at this point and then putting weight on my pelvis.  I feel like the pain would be excruciating and that I would lock into that position.  But DH has not been feeling well, and worries that too much movement will make him vomit, so he doesn't want to DTD unless I do most of the moving.  And I don't want to wait 6-8 more weeks to get some.  Oh yeah, and I WANT THIS BABY OUT!

omg ITA - I can't remember exactly how long it took me to O last time, but I remember thinking to myself that it had been way.too.long. Like, almost a year is probably close to the right range for me as well.

My SPD has thankfully improved over the past month-ish I'd say. The chiro helped me a lot and I think doing more movements with my legs apart (like practice squatting, having sex with me on top, etc) has made my pelvis more flexible. When my SPD flared up so bad mid-pregnancy and I could barely walk, I made it worse by keeping my legs together all of the time and sitting down way too much. Everything became so stiff down there, I really couldn't imagine pulling my legs apart for much. But I think just a combo of my efforts to improve flexibility plus the chiro and good luck just helped decrease the pain, although I still have to sit down to put pants on and can't do scissor-like leg movements (ouch!). Rolling over in bed is the worst too.

Have you tried being on top with your DH? The initial mount is really the only part that hurts my pubic bone a little. Once I'm all settled, there's no pain at all, my pelvis feels normal.

I haven't tried at all.  I'm definitely guilty of keeping my legs together all the time.  I just really can't imagine straddling anything.

Yup, I agree with this.  The only time my SPD did NOT hurt was while we were dtd.  As soon as we stopped, it all came back.  Luckily I've also been having really good luck with chiro and I feel pretty good now, but I totally know what it feels like to hardly be able to walk.

OMG I did exactly this!!!  I've only had one leg crap this entire pregnancy and it was some of the most shockingly horrific pain I've ever experienced.  No exaggeration.  My calf hurt for almost a week afterward!  The cramp woke me up at like 5am and I pretty much fell out of the bed freaking out.  DH woke up like "HOLY CRAP WHAT'S HAPPENING" and I was like "HELP! OMG HELP ME" just like you described.  It was awful.  He started massaging it but I was just out of control losing my mind cause it hurt so bad, and immediately after it finally subsided all I could say was "How the hell am I gonna get through labor?"

LOL I did this a lot during my first pregnancy.  Thankfully I haven't had leg cramps this time (knocks on wood).  I'd shake DH awake and scream for help.  He had no clue what was going on and then by the time I figured it out I was just like OMG nevermind I got it, it's better.  LOL.

Dude! How does it hurt SO badly?!??

We were picking up our glider rocker tonight and the cashier told me, "Tell him he needs to park his tractor trailer in your garage. We need to get this baby out!" LOL - thought I'd share on this thread since it was so applicable...

About leg cramps- I had them REALLY bad with DS, and occasionally with surrobabe. This time around, I've felt "threatened" cramps on many occasions, where I know I have to quickly flex my foot or else I'm gonna get one. I've managed to avoid getting even one cramp just by catching them early.

I started taking cramp bark tincture recently on my midwife's recommendation (since I started having regular contractions a couple times at 35 weeks) and the threatened cramps have totally disappeared. It also makes me feel very calm. Great stuff!

DH comes home on Monday and I'll be far enough along that we get to start having sex again! Yay! But we're restricting our activities to mornings only, because sex is what put me into labor at 1AM with DS (or at least contributed to it) and I want to have a good night's sleep this time!
