I'm just wondering how everyone is developing their parenting and infant care philosophies. Since I have worked with children for years as a nanny, I have read and formed opinions about the care and discipline of toddlers and older children, but I am just now having to look into newborn care.

My favorite books about older children/general parenting are:
Setting Limits With Your Strong-Willed Child by Robert MacKenzie
Beyond Time Out by Beth A. Grosshans
Free Range Kids by Lenore Skenazy

For newborn care, I am going to check out The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp, and Jo Frost's Confident Baby Care (that's Supernanny - as crazy as it sounds, the show actually is incredibly useful and contains great advice, despite being a mainstream reality show).
