unfinished basement

hiya i live above our restaurant and we have a basement underneath the restaurant does anyone know if its againt the health and safety rules to turn that into a play area?  please can anyone help me kind regards

I think you would have to contact your local authorities to see what your local regulations are. Hope it works out for you.

I think there is something about not using the same area with a furnace for living space...  I know a friend way back when in high school had to move his bed out of the basement for that reason.  And the pottery studio where I worked once was told they couldn't hold classes in the basement anymore unless they walled off the furnace into a separate room and added a ventilation fan.  But there are probably local differences in ordinances.
