Suggestions for boosting toddlers immune system!

Hi all - DS is 14 months old, goes to daycare full-time, and is just one of those kids who seems to catch every cold. I'd like to do what I can to safely help boost his immune system, especially with winter approaching.

I don't currently do anything specifically for immune boosting, but here are the things in our favor right now: DS is still breastfeeding, he loves to eat yogurt, and he is not fond of sugar (aside from fruit) so doesn't eat much of it. On the negative side, he is a finicky eater and does not eat as many fruits and veggies as he should.

What has worked for you with your kids? I'm open to anything!

Probiotics and Vit. D Drops here!

We do probiotics and d drops too, also cod liver oil and green smoothies. I also use elderberry syrup when they're coming down with something, or if we've been playing with sick kids.

Oh, I forgot that we do Vitamin D drops as well.

I am intrigued by the green smoothies - what do you put in them? I would love to give it a try for DS! Also, how do you give your kids the cod liver oil?

I also have a big bottle of elderberry syrup at home, so I could do that too. How much do you use when they are coming down with something?

We do a multi vitamin every day, an extra vitamin C, and probiotics. I tried an Omega but she wouldn't take it. Plus DD still nurses at 22 months. With all that, and a mostly super healthy diet (yogurt, fresh fruit, veggies, fish, turkey) she still catches every cold in her classroom. I don't think there is any fool proof way of boosting enough. If there is. . .I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT! orngtongue.gif
