3X - For energy cleansing, I usually use a bundle of sage, or sometimes a handful of incense.  I walk around the huse, making sure to get in all the corners, and usually say a prayer and tell the negativity to gtfo of my house.  I generally make it up on the fly, depending on the situation.  Every time I move into a new apartment I do this, just to start off with a clean house.

Revolting - I have to give you credit for even trying.  I can barely keep up with my blog, I can't imgaine finding the time or energy for more writing than that.

ktg - That's so funny about the dating friends thing, but so true!  I have a really hard time making friends irl.  I never was very good at dating - I'm a serial monogamist.  I'm glad to hear that your "date" worked out!

Clay - That's so scary!  I'm glad that Tor was ok, and that you were able to catch him.

My next tattoo appointment is December 7th.  That's the earliest I could get one.  So now I have yet another dilemma - do I ttc or avoid this month?  If we go ahead and ttc, I'd be right around 4 weeks at the time of the appointment, which is borderline as far as vulnerability of the little embryo.  I trust myself and my artist - I'm not prone to infection, and the shop is super clean and properly sterilized.  My gut feeling is that it would be ok.  I'm thinking we won't try but won't really avoid either.

Feral- maybe look at this cycle as a chance to prepare rather than actually TTC?  You know... start the vitamins, revamp the diet/exercise/meditation/sleep routine if necessary, and get yourself into the right physical, emotional, and spiritual space for TTC?  Maybe even use the rising energy of Yule (mother, child, rebirth, returning light, playfulness, hope, beauty, glitter, etc) to add some extra oomph to the process?

medical- well, after calling various places I finally got an appointment for dd3 using an online appointment tool.  Sigh.  It's with a large practice (dh goes there and likes it) but it's about 45 minutes by car from our house and it's very impersonal.  :(  Oh well, it's part of the Guthrie system so at least we should be able to get referals as needed and it's a one-stop-shop in terms of in-house specialists.  Still, we've been with our current practice for 7 years and change is hard.  In fact, THEY called ME today because an upcoming appointment time was moving up by 15 minutes and they wanted to apologize and explain!  I'm gonna make them cookies and a cross-stitch for the office wall as a thank you.  (they had a cross-stitch I'd made as a thank you after dd1's birth, but when our dr left the practice last summer she took it with her)

cleansing- I'm a big fan of opening the windows/doors and then making LOTS of noise and the kids love it too.  I have the kids clap, stomp, bang pot lids, ring bells, and shout as we march around the house.  Then I clean (mop/dust the floor, walls, light fixtures, windows, and so on using salt water with a little citrus oil or other "bright" scent in it, sprinkle baking soda/salt/dried herbs like rosemary on carpets and vacuum it up).  After I've cleaned I stand at the door, invite positive spirits/beings back into the house, and close it up.  Final step is to light a candle and carry it through the house.  When we lived in a really hostile neighborhood I also warded the entrances of our home (windows, doors, air registers, computer, faucets, tv, phones, etc) by hanging crystals, windchimes, and plants where possible to guard the entrances or by drawing symbols (in chalk or oil) on or near them.  There are some beautiful visual charms for thresholds!  I've always wanted to make a tile mosaic using one of those patterns as an entrance patio... wouldn't that be awsome?

Anyway... green plants, windchimes, reflecting crystals, bundles of dried herbs, symbols of health/happiness can all help energy in a space stay bright.  Scents that uplift or sooth (mints, citrus, herbaceous like rosemary can uplift while rose, vanilla, musk, and similar soft scents can soothe) are another option, as are making sure your light fixtures are super clean and then using aromatherapy rings on them.  Changing the light shade color can shift the energy too, or changing to a full spectrum bulb.  And perhaps create a home for a house spirit?  Many different religions have traditions about home guardians so there may be something that speaks to your path specifically.

Making chili for dinner... the house smells so yummy!    Rice is ready, the chili (4 different mason jars from the pantry all mixed together and simmered for a few hours plus the leftover corn from lunch) is ready, now I just need dh to get home with the big girls.  :)

I'm so blessed though... When DH is at work, DS is making all the things possible to help around the house; he even made a big batch of cookies yesterday, just because.

Going back to the couch... I have no energy...

Oh no:(  I hope you feel better asap.

I just don't like my babies sick! DS2 has done nothing more than cling to me all day, which is both awesome (what's better than a snuggly baby?!) and awful because he'll scream if I have to set him down for two minutes to run to the bathroom. I'm hoping that tomorrow is the end of it, esp since we've got a busy weekend. Two birthday parties for DS1, what a lucky boy! Its really because my parents and my in-laws don't get along the best and this avoids the thick as custard tension. eyesroll.gif

Speaking of illness, does anyone have a really good but simple house cleansing they wouldn't mind sharing? Everyone here has been having bad dreams and with the illness on top, I really want to cleanse the negativity out. smile.gif

I hope your little ones feel better soon.

Clay how scary with your little guy running out like that.  I tell you I don't know how you do it.  I wish you had someone you could depend on to help you.  I remember how difficult it is to get out with all the little ones.

Love some of these cleansing ideas.  I do most but never thought of making loud noise, banging on pots and things.

Just popping in to say: birthday.gif Maia!

my now 4 yr old would always run off like that. always scared me so bad. and she wonders now why i wont let her go anywhere without holding my hand. sheesh. she still just dashes sometimes. i make her hold on to the cart or ride in it most times still. she just doesnt have any caution or fear.

i am ready to nightwean dd2. i know wshe is getting molars but i havent gotten any sleep in the last 2 weeks. she wants to  nurse all night long. she was sleeping all night long so i am def missing my sleep. i even tried giving her chamomile and lavendar tea before bed. giving her ibuprofen before bed. and letting her sleep with her amber on. i am not sure what to do bc if i tell her no nurse she will cry and i still dont get any sleep. i hope these molars come in soon. i am one tired mama.

dh's truck finally broke and we had to get it towed to get fixed. all my money was with the lawyer for ds's issue. it has been 3 months and no word so i am taking the money back out to get the truck fixed. it is also the only way to have money for presents and DD1 needs a bigger car seat. i am going to buy dd2 one while i am at it. they are both getting too tall for theirs. if they do decide to press charges i will have to borrow more money to give back to the lawyer.

i cant bring myself to finish the habitat for humanity papers. i am afraid of doubling my rent and having to live off of my income. i am afraid dh wont be bale to keep income and we will only have enough to pay rent etc and be worse off than we are now. but we really need more room, but we can all fit like this if the dd1 and dd2 share a bed. arrgh. i keep going back and forth. i really need to figure out what is holding me back from wanting to start this new chapter in our lives.

Clay-So scary about Tor!! I'm so glad that everything worked out but wow I can't even imagine having to go through that. I hope you can find a harness that will hold him!

Thanks for the cleansing ideas. I love the idea of marching through the house making tons of noise. I know my kiddos will like to do that and I'd bet DD will enjoy helping to clean up to get all the "old, yucky, sicky goo energy" out of the house and some good energy in!!

Maia-The cake sounds yummy! Happy happy birthday!!!!

Thanks for the clarification on you and M. Sounds like a really situation to live with. I can't imagine not being able to see my DH every day much less only once every couple of months. You are one strong woman!!

revolting-I'm just impressed you even attempted the NaNoWriMo! Major props for that!

vydalea-Sorry about your periods. I don't know of anything to help that, but I feel ya!

Feral-I'm not entirely sure about the tattoo thing. I did get my second tattoo when I was pregnant with DD but didn't know it yet. I would've been about three weeks along and never had a problem. I think your idea of not trying but not preventing is a good one. DH and I used that method for DS1 and it was about two months before I was pregnant. I do like Clay's idea about taking this cycle to prepare, too.

Happy Birthday Maia! partytime.gif

And Lioness--I wish you all of the best! I know the frustration on night nursing, though not as bad as you. DS2 has been sick and up nursing every hour for the past several nights. As soon as he's asleep enough for my boob to fall out, he's squirming, crying and awake. I'm so over it! I hope her molars pop thru soon for you!

MAIA!!!  birthday.gif  hope it's simply amazing for you!

Lioness: I'm thinking what if you fill out the paperwork and leave it to the Universe.  Maybe you won't get chosen, maybe you will and you'll realize you are in a better spot than you thought.  Maybe you will and you'll talk to the people at Habitat and they can help you decide if it's for you.  The worst that can happen is it doesn't work out.  The best that can happen is you get more room for your family, right?

ktg: Hooray! for an awesome friend date!  I say just call when you want to!  This person is going to find out the "real you' sooner or later and if she doesn't like how quickly or not quickly you call afterwords it's probably not someone you really want to hang with anyway, right?

3x: I cleanse with music, usually.  When things are feeling especially out of whack I freak the negativity out with some Ziggy Marley or Donna the Buffalo.  I think that's how I jive with the energy of the universe, though, through sound so maybe that just works for me.

Clay: how scary about Tor but glad that Tiel balanced that out.  Hooray for long stints of sleeping!!

Feral: It sounds like you know what you want to do - just trust your gut.  I agree with Clay about preparing yourself and your surroundings.  Maybe you'll get more done at your appt than you thought and you'll be surprised?

Periods: I looked up some remedies and read that both Sage and Raspberry Leaf tea are supposed to help alleviate the heaviness and crampiness.  Just thought I'd share.

The little girlie isn't feeling so hot today.  Woke up after a long night of sleeping (hooray) with a fever (boo) so it looks like a pajama and rest day today.  Hugs and health to everyone dealing with sickness themselves and their LOs.

Thank you all for the sweet birthday wishes!! OMG, I got THIRTY-FIVE wishes on my FB page! I am so humbled. People love me! Lots of them! love.gif

I am pretty sure Donna The Buffalo is from here. They talk about them on our local radio station all the time.

3X-- it's not that I'm strong; it's what I have to do. It's....well, it's just what IS, kwim? I love him. He loves me. We're apart. We have to deal, y'know?

So I had an amazing birthday morning. DS let me sleep in, then snugged in bed with me, gave me THREE presents! One was a bookmark that he made, one was a resin box with a lid that has sunflowers on it (my kitchen theme), and a Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul book! Then we had cake for breakfast, and he got to have candy first thing in the morning, then we went to my AA meeting, then the gingerbread houses. We saw a few, but kind of got over it after an hour, so now we're home and the chicken wings are cooking yummy.gif I have homemade blue cheese dressing for those, and then later? Maybe more cake. I'm on the phone with my true love M right now luxlove.gif

For those who are homeschooling:  I'm looking for a complete homeschool curriculum set (non religious.)  I bought a couple books here and there but the quality isn't great.

Can anyone recommend a great set?

Yeah, the whole thing stinks to high heaven, Maia. Anyway, he's working on some leads, and friends have been outpouring with suggestions and offers for references.

Ugh. I'm so tired of financial setbacks. Something has to change.

Maia - So happy you had a great birthday!

Witchy - I have no idea what's going on, but *hugs* anyway.

Lioness - I agree that you should fill out the papers.  You can always back out, right?  At least if you send them in, you still have your hand in the pot, so to speak.

I'm going to keep the tattoo appointment, and go for the not trying not preventing method this month.  We should be a good 12 dpo by then, so we'll test that morning and then decide what we're going to do.  I doubt it will happen this month anyway (my body just doesn't feel ready) so I'm not overly concerned.  I also have a feeling about next month.  If I'm on schedule (and I usually am) I'll be ovulating right around Yule.  I just have a feeling.

So...have a date afternoon!

Maia, so glad you had a great birthday and that DS was such a great guy for ya!! hooray!

I think the founders of Donna the Buffalo are from Trumansburg, NY about an hour north-ish of me but they started a branch of their festival GrassRoots, in Pittsboro, NC.  Another one of the guys in the band is from down there, too!  Have you heard them?

Hope everyone's weather was as nice as it was here this weekend.  Lots of outside play time here!  Hopefully more today!!!  Everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving?  We host here - starting preparations today with Apple Pie filling. mmmmm.

Man, this thread has slowed down. I can actually keep up. Maybe everyone's busy with Thanksgiving plans? I'm very grumpy about Thanksgiving. I don't like the holiday, and then I'm going to spend it with my in-laws. Ugh. So, that's that. A slow start to the day. We have a horrible mouse problem, and they have been keeping me up at night. I've complained and complained and complained, but they just put down more poison. We moved in a year and a half ago, and the place had a mouse problem then. Trust me, any mice that could have died from poison or traps have died from poison and traps. The survivors are what's left. We made a huge line of traps with this one mouse we were watching last night between it and the kitchen. It wasn't afraid of us, but it was obviously afraid of the traps: it wouldn't cross them. We've found four mouse holes that we've stopped up, but there must be more that we haven't found. Ugh. Not sure what to do.

Sorry to be such a downer.

PS: What are your favorite cookies to make with toddlers that transport okay? I'm thinking about making cookies with my four and one year old (and yes, the one year old loves to "help") to give to the neighbors this year, but oh man, is baking with the little one an epic project.
