It's November, the countdown begins!

Woo! November! I'm so ready for the Halloween decorations to come down! After tonight (picking up my birth pool and having a mini mother blessing at the ICAN meeting), everything will be in place and it's all up to little one. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and I've been having contractions consistently at 10 minutes apart for the last few days (sometimes not too intense and occasionally getting as close as 5 minutes apart before spacing back out). I had my first daughter 39 weeks, so I'm hoping for the newbie to make her appearance sometime in the next two weeks. :)

In other news, I have been incredibly irritable. Oh, and my MIL just dropped the bomb that she and FIL (they're our only family support and were supposed to be in change of DD for the birth...) will be in PA from 18th-20th. Great timing guys. UGH.

For the last 4 months of my pregnancy I just KNEW I would have this baby on November 1st.  I told everybody I had a feeling this is when it was.  And here it is.  And I feel just fine today.  WHAT THE HECK, HUH!?!

I had a burst of nesting energy at 11:30PM. So, I made up a list of stuff I'd need for food to stock up meals in the freezer and headed over to Walmart. Felt bad for the guy on the side of the road, who had just hit a deer doing 65MPH. I stopped and helped look over his car and ended up following him to the gas station so he had more light to look at the damage. I wouldn't have paid attention to his hazard lights had I not dodged some of the deer that was smeared on the road. His left front end was SMASHED and his car was smoking a little but he managed and had a phone.

Anyways......So, I grabbed some tall storage containers and gallon freezer bags from Walmart with my groceries and made some shredded chicken chili, waiting for a lasagna, beef stew, chicken noodle soup, and after that I'll throw in some corn breads for the stew and chili. I'm super proud of myself that I'll be putting some food away for when I can't cook or am too tired to cook. This is actually the first time we've had enough extra money to do that. I know we'll save a little on food too, since DS will be at my mom's for a couple weeks so she can spend time with him and so I can have the baby easier. Alot more stuff seems to be coming together. Phew! November already.......where has the time gone?

ETA: I am soo so tired now. I stayed up until 5AM doing all of this. I knew I'd regret it, but it needed done. Also, congrats to those who had their littles and good luck to those that are laboring right now.

Becky-  I think having the things you feel need to be done is important in preparing your mind for labor and birth.  SO just think, you making all that food is one step closer to being there

So dh informed me this morning that his "week" off when baby is born is actually more like 3.25 days. How do you even get 1/4 of a day?? Anyway, woo! I'm so pumped! What else can I do but laugh? Okay, and sigh.... 

Anyone want some kids? Or want to send me an unwanted relative who is trying to come stay with them? 

I'm spending an exciting morning completing my online Girl Scout cookie sale training. It's hours (or feels like it) of low budget videos on selling cookies! Yes!

I'm spending an exciting morning completing my online Girl Scout cookie sale training. It's hours (or feels like it) of low budget videos on selling cookies! Yes! 

I'll take the 14 year old. Maybe she can help me with the house upkeep. lol Sorry about your DH not being able to take more time off. My DH's head manager called DH in the day after DD was born and I was in the hospital alone when he was supposed to have the whole week off. I was so pissed. He was like "Well, you got to be there for the birth, didn't you?" Well, YEAH, but he scheduled a week off and also, Jerkoff, YOU got 2 weeks when your wife had her baby. Errgh! So I feel ya. lol

You can have my mom.  She's very AP and helpful, but has a lot of opinions and advice.    She won't be at my birth because I invited my MIL (who's great, but a totally different person) and it would NEVER work out to have them both here.    Also, my older sister is due with baby #1 on Dec. 24th, so she's traveling there for her birth (and she was at my last 2 births).  Anyway, you can have her, good luck with that!  ;)

My DH was supposed to get 2 weeks off when we had our DD.  It ended up being about 3.5 days, so I know how it goes.  Luckily his work is very close and he can often work from home, so it's a little different situation.  I told him this time to get the time off NOW and give them the expectation that he's not showing up, period.  We'll see...

If by "house upkeep" you mean sleeping 16 hours a day and texting, then she's your girl! (Really, she's great, but sleeping and texting appear to be a full time job for teenagers.)

Ugh, that's not cool! Dh's job is the same way... he's  in advertising and all they really care about is money. It's soooo different from years ago when I was with my xh. He works in IT for a non-profit. Waaaay cooler about taking time off. And I know there is FMLA and all that with "no retaliation", so in theory he should be able to take at least two weeks. But making your boss mad is just not the way to go at these sort of companies. 

I am trying to get him to take the other 1.75 days off, but if his boss sounds grumpy about it, I won't push it. It's just not worth it if he ends up being assigned a worse market during the next campaign or something. Plus, we want him to transfer here in April, so he needs really good reviews.

I went to L&D yesterday for an NST because LO was barely moving all day, which was unusual for him.  Luckily, he's absolutely fine, just tired yesterday, I guess.  But, the midwife on call was looking at my records and noted that I wanted a water birth and have a really bad case of SPD.  She said that she doesn't think the water birth is possible, and if she's the midwife on call when I'm in labor, she won't let me do it .  She's apparently concerned that if something should happen I may not be able to get out of the tub quickly enough.  My husband is very, very strong and has carried my big butt pregnant self around constantly late in this pregnancy when my SPD has been at its worst, so I know that he could get me out of the tub without a problem, but she wouldn't hear it.  I'm now super bummed.  I wanted a water birth even before the SPD, and now with the SPD the only time I'm comfortable is in the water.  I really hope she's not on call when the time comes, or if she is, somehow I can show her how I can get in and out of the tub.

Exactly. If DH loses this job, we'll be moving to mom's and we'll be so SOL. Not even funny. Yeah, it was unfair that he didn't get his time off that he was supposed to get, but he also has a good job that keeps a roof over our heads.

That's silly!  The endorphins of labor are amazing and you'll be able to move if you need to.  If a woman can get out of a tub while having a contraction, I'm sure a little (or a lot) or spd isn't going to stop her either.  I had really bad SPD with my DD and didn't have any problems while I was in labor.  Sometimes women need help moving in labor, even if they don't have spd.   Sorry for this, it sucks.  Here's hoping she's not there!

Oh man, I would be so pissed. I'm feeling really lucky that my DH's company has an awesome human resources dept that coupled with his stored up vacay time and FMLA he gets 3 weeks off. He's in marketing and this is the beginning of 4th quarter, so his boss isn't too happy about it, but since HR is involved already he can't do a dang thing about it.

It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have to go back out of town. Good luck with your dh getting more time off this time!

My mom *says* she will come stay and help out. I love my mom a lot... she is great. But, she is not exactly helpful. I really think she means to be, but she just doesn't know how. She does not cook or clean or do laundry... or put her own gas in the car, charge her cell phone.... I'm not really sure what she does around the house. When I had dd1, she came over about an hour after I got home from the hospital. She asked for the baby, and then asked me to bring her a footstool and a glass of water. Seriously. But she is really sweet and supportive... I really can't complain! It's just that I'm not sure she will actually be any help. Plus, she teaches elementary school and is always sick. So I'm thinking there is a good chance she will have some bug when the baby is born. 

I'm sure everything will work out! I'm optimistic. Just semi-venting. :)

That IS silly! How many midwives are there? Is there a good chance it will be her? Maybe you can talk to her again about it. Between what Abra said about endorphins and your dh there, you should be fine! Plus, how is it safer for you to labor in bed where you will be in more pain?
