(that's weird for me to say with this illness, heh)

ETA: also, Katie, it's great that your DH is a bartender because he'll be on the baby's schedule on his days off.  In my experience, newborns stay up LATE.  LOL!  So that's good.  My DH goes to bed at like 9pm (he considers that "late"!) so for the three weeks he's off I'd imagine he'll be a zombie... ha!

Ooh that sounds super fun!  I wanna go, too!

And while I don't love DH's schedule, I am grateful that he'll be around during the daylight hours, even when he does have to work.  My schedule is totally shifted these days, too, since I'm always waiting up for him to come home - I just can't sleep till he's there.  So hopefully we'll be relatively on schedule with this baby!  Also in the future I can go for a run, etc during the day and leave baby home with DH since he doesn't go to work till 3 or 4pm.

I know I'm really hoping this will happen, too!  I figure either way I'll be happy since I've had one massage with this woman before and it was the BEST massage I've had in my LIFE.  So either I have a baby or I have an amazing massage.

I just had a pre-natal massage (gift from DH), and I wish I could say it felt awesome.  I was looking forward to it as an incentive to get this far in the pregnancy.  It was comfortable, but I feel like my esophageal sphincter is just completely gone.  I can eat a cracker, and not only do I get heartburn, if I'm not completely upright, the food all comes up.  And it doesn't come up in a violent way, like vomiting, just sort of leaks up.  I'm getting very annoyed at this feeling.

Yea about the time off, J! I worked there about 12 years ago and remember the benefits being awesome. I was young, though, so I didn't much care. But I've always had good things to say about it since.

Dh works in advertising for AT&T. A hugely major company. Why do they not have decent time off??? The only paid time he will get is his vacation days and we really can't afford for him to take unpaid leave.

Happy note: Mr. Jaspy Pants' (this is what I call the baby) bedding came today. It's a gift from my parents and it is so cute that I have to share. This is the product photo; I'll post nursery pics when it's all together.

Amanda - I LOVE that bedding set!!! love.gif I had considered getting it at one point since I have a lot of bird themed stuff going on for our baby (her name Sora is even a kind of bird smile.gif). As you can tell by my username, I kind of have a thing (err obsession?) with birds....... I can't wait to see your actual nursery pics!

Super cute bedding!  My DH also gets a lot of time off..  Roughly 2 weeks a year, plus extra time around Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc..  It comes to at least a month and they're also pretty flexible about letting him come home if needed.

I managed to get a lot of my Christmas shopping done today.  Phew!  The rest of the things I'm going to make or order online.  I really didn't want to have to go shopping with a newborn and a toddler.  I even stunk a new pair of my favorite jeans in for me (in a bigger size as a pp treat).  orngbiggrin.gif

Why were there no good bird-themed bedding options when I had DS1 and that was his room theme?  Le sigh.

So cute!  Forgive my terrible memory but are you my nursery-decorating partner?  I'm slacking for sure.  We did get DS1's new custom blanket today!  DH is going to put the crib in there and I will be ALMOST done.

OMG, a really upsetting thing just happened with my MIL.  Friends of mine stopped by to visit just to say hi for a little while with their 3 month old (who is absolutely adorable).  My MIL was here, because she does that lots lately (sigh).  Well, friends' baby was getting really fussy, and my MIL grabbed him out of my friend's arms and said "you can't hold him like that when he's fussy."  (She was holding him just fine.)  My friend was horrified.  She snatched her baby back, somewhat violently, and walked off to our nursery to try to calm him, because he was completely freaked out.  My MIL looked at DH and I like she was asking for us to stand up for her, saying things like "I'm just trying to show her how to do it; I've done this before, you know."  Friend's husband just sort of mumbled that she's very protective.  I was hoping he would yell at her.

I mean, she's taken other people's babies right out of my arms before, which always pisses me off, but to take a baby out of a mother's arms?  When the mother barely even knows you, at that?  I'm seething now.  Furious.  DH is too.  MIL just does not get why it wasn't appropriate.  Our friends were much calmer than we were, and, citing baby's fussiness, decided gracefully to leave.  I feel like I'm doing a bad job explaining how upsetting this was.  Who grabs a baby out of its mother's arms?

Hmm... our Lunapad contest thread was just removed b/c we're not allowed to host "sweepstakes" of any kind on the social groups.  Only official contests are allowed and there are a bunch of rules that go along with those.  Ooops.

Well, I'm not sure how to pick a winner then?  Assuming that she's still allowed to donate to our group... And I want those articles reposted!  I was just responding to one of them when the thread was taken down!

Yes, I'm your partner! It hasn't really gone completely as planned for me, either. For one thing, our budget sort of disappeared midway through! Luckily, my parents got us the mattress and bedding. I still can't believe he even has a room. I never did this before. It's so silly, in a way, because I can't imagine when he will ever actually sleep in the crib. Plus, he can't even use the blanket, right? I think now bumpers aren't even considered safe anymore. And this is what I ask for as a gift... I am a crazy woman!

Buuuut.... the little room is so freaking adorable. We all love going in there. It's dd1's favorite room in the house. I'm sure I will love sitting in there and nursing him in a nice, peaceful area.

I'm working on this right now for his wall: http://pinterest.com/pin/257035783/   I'm almost done. It's been a major pain... breaking all those colored pencils and then sharpening the tiny little pieces is harder than it seems. I hung a string across a corner of the room and clothespinned all the shower cards we got up there. And I have a cute folksy painting of a dog on a magic carpet hung above the changing table. All I need to finish it is one of those giant wall leaf canopies from Ikea for above the crib. But that involves me having the energy to make it to Ikea.

That was considered a sweepstakes?? Weird.

Hey, you know how they found out? I totally told. Yeah, it was me. moon.gif

Wow, Ablemec jaw.gif  - I'm pretty sure if someone snatched my baby out of my arms I wouldn't care who they were, I'd completely go off on them! That is inappropriate on so many levels... Good for your friend for keeping her cool. I don't know that I would've been so calm and collected.

I have a feeling I'm going to be confronting similar situations with my own family when my baby arrives. *sigh* If not them snatching my baby from my arms, it'll be me flipping out at unwarranted advice or at my mom's guilt trips about me not letting her see her granddaughter enough. My mom is acting so obsessed about my baby, I sure hope the novelty wears off within a few weeks of the birth. My sister is planning to start a family next year and I'll be so ticked off if my mom doesn't switch gears and focus on her pregnancy for a while. I told my sister to GET TO IT ALREADY!

Oh dear, I should stop these worried thoughts before they begin. lol.gif New topic? LOL

BIG no no! Even my mom wouldn't do that to me! She would try to tell me with my first while I was holding him and if I didn't get it, she'd offer to show me herself. Could you imagine if a GUY did that? Everyone would be yelling at him like he was the biggest jerk and idiot in the world if he did what your MIL did.

Diggin the birdy bedding!  If I had a spare room I would decorate it similarly, hehe.  Tho not with a crib! =P  Even if we did have another room I'd still have to have kids sharing, le sigh.

Bummer about the Lunapad thread--for the articles and the "sweepstakes", heh!

Ablemec, that would be pretty frustrating, to not have MIL get it!  It's especially out-there that she'd do that with ppl she's hardly met.  headscratch.gif

So...my friend IRL, who was due like 2-3 weeks after me (or 4-5, depending on which date!), and carries so petite and tiny?  Yea, she had her baby last nite.  :jealous/pout:  redface.gif

I'm trying to "get in the zone" mentally, but it's hard!  Despite knowing that this is not at all unusual for me, I get more and more irritated every day about "still" being pregnant, the longer this wears on!  I even went to the mall this afternoon, trying to walk him/her out, and then the grocery store--yes with all the kids.  I didn't even take a nap today, LOL.  Come to think of it, I'm a little unnerved by how good I feel!  loveeyes.gif

I'm going to start charging people a dollar every time they ask if the baby has come yet.  Sheesh.  Seriously, people I WILL TELL YOU!  This is what I get for 5 weeks of unending pre-labor.  I'd better not get my period back for AGES to make up for these weeks and weeks of cramps.

I just wanted to have you guys have a moment of silence for a fellow November mama, Tourneymom, whose daughter was stillborn. She posted in the October board, but she was due to have her daughter tomorrow. mecry.gif

OMG is this the same friend who was telling you she'd go before you, too?!?  I'm super jealous of her also! Dang it!
