It looks like many of you ladies have fallen off to the other side today (ie, had a baby)..  Sigh, I'm still here!!  :)

We just got back from Thanksgiving at my friends church.  It was a really nice, small gathering and we hardly had to cook anything!  I'm very full now and very pregnant still.  Tomorrow is a new day!

Hi all--hope you had a happy thanksgiving!  We ate at my SIL's house, expecting to meet her SIL's new baby as well--but it turned out that she was in the hospital in labor!  They were cracking jokes about how she could've had a c-sec and gotten outta there sooner, and i was cringing on the inside eyesroll.gif

RE: doing a lot/feeling better:  I'm feeling really good, but i am certainly not running marathons or cleaning my house from top to bottom.  i cooked dinner the other nite, does that count?? orngtongue.gif  i think that's WHY i'm feeling good, cause i'm not pushing myself.

Actually, i felt like crap yesterday, and had started bleeding again, and could. not. figure it out til i realized i had an almost-fever and baby hadn't pooped for awhile--I was dehydrated!!  bag.gif  Amazing how you need sooo much more water when nursing--i had forgotten.

I was productive today--i weeded out all the baby clothes that don't fit this big baby--it was most of them!  blush.gif  I'm gonna weigh him tomorrow since he'll be a week old, and I'll be shocked if he's lost more than an ounce.

And FYI, it's also really hard to eat as much as you want to when you're holding a perpetual nurser who's fussy cause of all the noise-chaos that is Thanksgiving dinner with family.  Just so all you pregnant-mamas aren't too envious. orngtongue.gif  I didn't even get to eat a slice of pie....  /pout

Where is everyone!? Dylan and I are just up enjoying a sleepless night:o
Having some breastfeeding issues (he is clicking and not taking the nipple all the way back- cranial sacral tomorrow to see if it helps). Otherwise he is so great! Very mellow. Can't wait to get on a real computer and not my iPad so I can type his birth story!

Levi had a lazy latch until 2 days ago and I'd just help him open his mouth more with my finger.

I have felt those when she's wet, I know she feels dry but they're bulky since she's still so small. I think those are just uncomfortable for her. So, we've resorted to disposables a lot. I loved using cloth with my first and she was so easy-going about it, she never cared what she had on. I know Greta will grow into her pockets and we have enough of those to get through a day with pockets on... we can build on that stash if we need to. I just hope she adjusts to them. I've been putting cloth on her when we're just at home and she hates it every time. And I hate buying disposables... they're so freakin expensive! ugh...

Prefold cloth is really bulky on Levi too. At first I thought I was doing it wrong. lol.gif Or too lose. He doesn't care what he's in , but I've been getting attached to pocket diapers because they don't seem as big for his tiny body. I hope Greta adjusts to using cloth.

Me, too!  But we haven't heard from Joanie, Nina, Crystal, Ash, A-time-to-live, or Sarah.  Then there's Emily, Willsmom, Dennie, Raewyn, Kali, and Amy!  I knew I'd be one of the last, though.  Sigh...

I'm exhausted and my tailbone is still really sore. My mood is pretty good, though. I know I'm not eating enough... I'm losing weight super fast. Jasper sleeps really well, but I'm just not used to sleeping with a baby so I wake up constantly.

I don't think this is a "slow" recovery.  I planned from the beginning to take it as easy as possible for at least the first 2 weeks (of course I have the option of doing so, since this is my first baby, I have family helping, etc), because my yoga teacher said that the women she knows who do as little as possible for the first couple weeks experience the best healing overall.  And it hasn't been hard to be so sedentary.  I'm now 15 days PP and I still feel like I'm recovering.  Still bleeding off-and-on (not a lot, but still blood every time I wipe and sometimes more than that), and pretty tired.  But I wake up a lot, too, since I'm also not used to sleeping with a baby (baby Katie loves sleeping in bed with us, but won't sleep unless she's on or held tightly against one of us... which usually turns out to be me, since I'm the only one who can feed her).  I also think I'm probably not eating enough, since I get a little dizzy/light-headed when I DO try and take a short walk... I have no idea what I weigh, though.  Just know that my pre-baby jeans are still several sizes too small for me!

Thanksgiving was nice at times but mostly totally overwhelming.  There were SO many people over and everyone wanted to hold the baby and that was pretty much ok, but I felt super anxious and overwhelmed and then poor baby Katie had a bloody belly button (wish this thing would just be healed already - her cord stump fell off 11 days ago!), and then I found two big pimple-looking things right in the fold where her thigh meets her body, and they looked so painful (even though she didn't seem to care when I cleaned them up/put cream on them), and then in the evening she was super fussy and couldn't be soothed.  DH was holding her and she was crying and my mom came in and just took her and she stopped crying... so then DH felt awful.  Then my mom felt awful almost immediately when she realized what she'd done, and then my dad decided to tell me a horror story about a friend's baby that I don't DARE repeat here, it was so upsetting, and then HE felt awful for telling me this story (and seriously I can't for the life of me figure out why he did), and this whole time I'm just sitting in my recliner bawling my eyes out.  It was a really, really rough night.  It's been so amazing having everyone here helping out, but at this point I need some mama/baby/DH alone-time BAD.

At the same time I get super sad and weepy when I think about my mom leaving.  She's been here more than 2 weeks now and we've never gotten along so well.  My mom and I used to have a pretty turbulent relationship (that's putting it mildly), and for years and years I just figured we'd never be close.  We've been getting closer and closer over the past few years, but the last 2 weeks have been magical, and I don't want the spell to be broken when she leaves.

It's a boy. I think she wants to rest a bit. She had about 24 hours of labor, I think.

Oh mamas please help me!

So Dylan has an AMAZING suck (seriously it's ridiculously strong) and a beautiful latch.  Absolutely a dream come true.  He doesn't nurse constantly either, which is awesome.  He is so content.  However, he is clicking while nursing and nursing is SO painful because he is chomping on my nipple.  He gums it SO hard with each suck, and his tongue is thrusting back and breaking that suction which creates the clicking.  I have no tissue damage on the nipple itself, so we know his latch is awesome.  But it hurts because he's basically just chewing on me!  It's very very painful, and I even have bruises on the areola.

We're trying to get someone to do cranial-sacral (the director at the BC did some work but she is pretty new at it) but otherwise we don't know what to do!  Anyone have any experience with this situation!?
