Finger Foods for a Football Game Party?

Thread Starter

DH, the kids and I were invited to a party to watch the LSU/Alabama football game this Saturday.  (We live in TN, and it's hard to find a group of LSU fans around - we got lucky!)  Everyone is bringing a few finger food-type things to eat, and we're trying to show some of his co-workers that being vegan doesn't mean we eat lettuce and bland stuff all day long.  We also want to make sure we're not starving, because I'm 99% sure that we'll have the only vegan dishes there.

I'm already planning to make a 7-layer dip and a big bowl of guacamole with homemade whole wheat pita chips, and maybe some naan as well.  I'm also planning to make the dark chocolate chip cookies from the Engine 2 Diet book.  I don't want to resort to a veggie tray, but I will if I have to.

Anyone have any go-to finger foods or munchies recipes that you love?  (Nothing that requires silverware, please!)

My biggest finger food hit has been buying these fillo shells:

And filling them with this pine nut ricotta:

(The ricotta recipe is found within the lasagne recipe.)

In half of the shells, I mixed the "ricotta" with thawed, chopped, frozen spinach and a bit of nutmeg.  In the other half, I layered the "ricotta" with chopped olives on the bottom, and finely diced bell pepper and rosemary on top.

The shells are only available during November and December as far as I know, so you are in luck if you want to get them.

I've also made these "spinafels" (tofu-spinach balls):

And these potato poppers:

The potato poppers might not work as well as the other two recipes cold or at room temperature, though.  They're best right from the oven.

I took this to a Super Bowl party last year. It vanished. http://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/10476?section=
