My son just threw up a bit...enough to fit in my cupped hand and it was a light red color. I'm concerned it might be blood. However, now that I think of it he did have a small piece of red licorice last night when we were trick -or- treating (about 8:00 I think). However, that should have been digested by now shouldn't it? He had some oatmeal and apple slices (sans peel) for breakfast. He is playing and doesn't seem sick or anything.

Thanks for the replies. The day I posted this I called the doc and she just said to keep an eye on him. He threw up again that evening then again yesterday (and it was green). I got online to see what it could be and freaked myself out. I kept reading that green vomit meant bile which could mean an intestinal blockage so I took him to the doc this morning. She said he was fine and that a little bit of blood is normal since the force of vomiting sometimes causes bleeding in the esophagus and that bile is normal as well. The reason for the vomiting was most likely that he has a cold and was gagging on mucus. Even though it was nothing serious, I'm glad I took him to the doc so I can stop worrying.
