Peeling Nipples- Not Nursing

Hi everyone. DD has been weaned for a little over three months and now all of the sudden (at 6 months pg) my nipples are itching and peeling like crazy. Is it because of the pregnancy? Has anyone else had this happen who isnt nursing? Ive been putting Burts Bees Mama Bee Belly Balm on them (same as my belly) but its not going away.

Ps. Nothing comes out if I attempt to hand express them.

I am in a similar situation, though I still get drops of milk. I am 10 weeks pregnant, just weaned my child, and having peeling nipples. I didn't think much of it thought and it's not bothersome to me.

could it be your size increasing and friction with your bra?  do you have some lansinoh?  mine have done that off and on pregnant or not for years.

What do you mean by 'peeling'? I only ask because mine have been... weird, since about week 20 of my pregnancy, but I have no idea what it is, and haven't wanted to attempt to google photos... lol. In my case, it looks like the tip of the nipple started to look like... elbow skin almost, in that way that it's super dry and... piecey I guess. It would never peel on it's own, but on several occassions they've been so dry and sensitive that I've tried (and successfully without too much work) to peel out individual 'pieces'. After I get a few of the white pieces out, the nipple hurts less and it's a feeling of relief. 

Like I said-- weird, but I didn't want to google, and your description of it peeling has me curious if it's the same thing!

My nipples peeled a little and were kind of itchy toward the end of my pregnancy. I did have an ample supply of colostrum though and that seemed to help when I rubbed it around on the nipples. Maybe olive oil would work?
