Help! I need exercise suggestions

I was doing good, walking a mile a day per my midwifes instructions for exercise. I started getting a similar pain in my pubic bone that I get every pregnancy. Long story short, I have SPD (Symphysis pubis dysfunction) and now my midwife wants me to start limiting my walking since it makes my pain worse. I really need an exercise I can do for my thighs and butt since these are the area that gains all the weight during my pregnancies. I am even limited on what yoga poses i can do and no squats or lunges because of the SPD! Help me out!

Where you gain/lose weight is actually mostly genetic, so you can't really "target" specific areas. But doing cardio exercise while pregnant is great for your heart, and will help you maintain a nice healthy weight gain rather than just packing on pounds.

Doing strength exercises will strengthen the muscles in certain areas, which helps them look more shapely once the weight is off. It can also help shift the weight around a bit (literally getting pushed out of the way by muscle), which can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on where it pushes it to!

Is there anywhere nearby with an indoor pool you could go to? Like a community center or something? Swimming can be a great way to get some cardio.

I find bicycling to be really good when my legs are giving me trouble, but I've never had SPD so I'm not sure how comfortable that would be for you. If it's too cold to bike outside, you can get a little roller stand for your bike that will let you bike inside. They're not super cheap, but they're cheaper than an exercise bike and much much smaller.

edit: this is the sort of bike trainer I'm talking about, the inexpensive ones are around $50-100: http://www.amazon.com/F2-MAG-Trainer-by-Forza/dp/B000QRMUHI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sg_2
