Hi! Short introduction: I'm mom of 5 LC, 12wk missed mc this past April, currently @9 weeks pregnant. I live in McComb, MS (the dead area) and this will be the first baby I'll have in MS. The baby that mc'd was going to be a homebirth and I had a MW from LA (closest to me). This time around I knew I'd be panicking, needing reassurance with ultrasounds, etc., and my DH wasn't happy with the MW anyway so I went with a local OB who "helped" me after my mc (I did all the work). I saw him a few weeks ago and he was dreadful. Kept harping on my "advanced maternal age" (I'm newly 37) and told me I had a 50% chance of carrying to term, plus he blew off my concerns. This was absurd because the only problem I've ever had was the mc which happened for no discernable reason.

Anyway, I've switched to a doctor at the university hospital in Jackson. I worked with her when she was a resident and chief resident and I know she's very, very good. I haven't had an appt yet. My biggest concern isn't her, it's the hospital. I know that the hospital locally is in the dark ages but I'm worried that this one won't be any different. Is this going to be one of those hospitals which won't even consider letting you deliver not on your back, forces you to stay in bed while laboring and loves interventions?

I would love to hear from anyone who has had any kind of experience delivering at this hospital. I'm worried I'm going to have to arrange to "accidently-on-purpose" deliver in the car on the way up there (hour and a half) or at least get there while pushing just to avoid the million harmful interventions.
