Morning sickness poll?

I am the least sick in the morning. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am sick basically all day long.  But when I first wake up, I am hungry and I feel ok for about an hour. Thank goodness! But it seems strange!

I know there are different theories of what causes MS and I'm guessing low blood sugar is not it for me. I thought estrogen levels were highest in the morning but maybe not mine.

I'm obsessing over this because I am dying to figure out how to make it go away!!! I have a pile of foods that seem like I could eat them (or they did when I was at the store, anyway), vitamin B6, Unisom, Colace, ginger (yuck), preggie pops, I am going to try everything because I can't stand 6+ more weeks of this!

The best thing so far is to eat constantly. My favorite food is whipped cream cheese with green olives. I am a walking stereotype. orngtongue.gif

So when are you sickest and when do you feel the best, and what has been helping or not helping you?

I feel sickest late morning and late afternoon.  I'm alright right when I wake up, I'm usually hungry and can eat something right away.   I've been taking B6 morning and night.  I do think the B6 is helping, if I wait too long between doses I can feel it wear off and I feel a lot worse.

Perhaps I need to start the B6 too...I started unisom two nights ago... I had a near fainting episode when I woke up this morning so it's got me a bit thrown off.  But, I  can eat when I first wake up, if I puke, it will be within an hour or so of initially eating.  The nausea will sometimes wear off and return in the afternoon 2-3p and snacking doesn't seem to help.  It will last til bedtime when I go to sleep.  It was bad last night.  I was able to make dinner, eat dinner, but I'm having a hard time telling the different between hunger and nausea becuase my tummy feels full, like I'm not hungry, but I feel nauseous and wonder if I'm hungry.  I'm sick of eating.  It takes so much energy.  I've got DS in the high chair in front of the TV (so terrible, I know) eating bkfst so I can sit on the couch and try to eat some oatmeal.

We are supposed to be somewhere this morning by 9:30a and I'm not even sure I can get us out the door.

Yikes Sonjua, it's so hard sometimes.  I get it though.  DH is a firefighter so he spends 24 hour shifts at the fire station which is an hour from our house.  So basically I do it all by myself for a 24 hour period and we have 5 kids LOL.  Oh and B just had his tonsilis and adenoids removed a week ago.  Basically he's waking up crying from pain, L is crying when she hears him, and I have to get up and rock or sooth someone 3-4 times a night and I'm on the verge of puking every time I get up with them.  This part is making me a little nuts.  So I usually feel "OK" when I first wake up but have somewhat of a food aversion then, so of course, I don't eat.  Then I move on to, am I getting hungry or am I getting sick and I hate not knowing the difference of being nauseous or hungry.  The of course, if I do manage to eat something I'm throwing up within 20 minutes or so of eating.  I also noticed, if I eat (I eat gluten free) carb related like GF bread or pasta I get sicker than ever.  I think I read on here that a few people have lost like 10lbs already and I should be thankful that I've only lost 2-3lbs and not 10.

Yes. My best time is before 9-10am. I feel pretty sick after that and super hungry at the same time. I often crash by early afternoon and have to take a nap. Whats weird this time is that I haven't puked yet. I am often on the verge of puking, but that's as far as it goes. I have thrown up with all my other pregnancies, but some of them were sicker than others.

My sickness is still new enough with this pregnancy that I don't know the patterns yet. So far it seems like it'll be all day again. (whoopee). I'm having the am I full?am I hungry? am I feeling sick? confusion and am so tired of thinking about food. I don't want to eat, nothing sounds good, but I know I have to or the sickness will be even worse.

So, so far it is just like last time. Then my sickness lasted until 19 weeks, but here's hoping it won't last so long this time!

I am nauseous 24/7. I've lost 15lbs. Right now I can eat a small bowl of gluten free hot cereal twice a day and maybe a piece of fruit. I tried some Miralax last night but couldn't keep it down. I am dehydrated, can hardly drink. I was just throwing up in the am but now it's several times a day. Tried zofran but it doesn't do much to help. I took prenatals, fish oil, and folic acid everyday since march so I'm not to worried about vitamins. I just feel so awful. I was really sick with my daughter and she turned out super healthy. Really trying to stay positive and remember that this will pass and I'll have the little baby of my dreams.

I was waking up sick and got worse and worse until I could nap after lunch.  Then I was ok in the late afternoon and evening.  I was getting really dehydrated and couldn't handle the nausea so I started taking Zofran.  It is such a lifesaver!  My midwife said I have to take it regularly to stay ahead of the sickness, so I am on 4mg every 6 hours.  I fee like a new person!

Has anyone noticed that their morning sickness has changed over the weeks or feels differently from previous pregnancies?

For the first few weeks it felt just like it did with dd's pregnancy.  It was all day, a real aversion to food, but once I ate I felt better.  My tongue always felt coated and thick.  Generally just an overall heavy feeling but hard to put into words.

Since I hit 8 weeks though, it has switched.  For the past few days I feel much better in the morning.  The food aversion isn't as strong.  More foods seem appealing now, but I feel much closer to throwing up.  I feel hungry but also sick at the same time and it isn't the overall feeling I had before.  It is more just in my stomach.  Today I threw up for the first time.  I was driving in the car, had just eaten breakfast and suddenly had to pull over.  It really surprised me.

I'm wondering if the morning sickness can be different from pregnancy to pregnancy or maybe I actually have a little stomach bug. Very strange.

I have had morning sickness with every one of my pregnancies except the one that ended in miscarriage. For that reason, I am thankful that I feel horrid. It always hits me at 6 weeks. With my first pregnancy, it lasted till 22 weeks. The earliest I've ever stopped being sick was 17 weeks... I feel terrible all day. Full and hungry and nauseous all the time. Gagging a lot, but not throwing up. yet. That familiar, disgusting, tight feeling in my chest/upper abdomen... yuck.

I actually feel great most of the day but by evening I'm super nauseous and yucky. I'll occasionally gt sick during the day but usually a small snack and some water will ease that. I've never really gotten super sick with any of my babies so I'm not too concerned with my lack of sickness.

just an FYI ... Zofran can cause constipation :) just be on the look out or take preventative measures.

I have never thrown up during pregnancy from nausea and am pretty icky feeling all day.  I mostly fine first thing in the morning and if I force something down I am OK.  As far as foods helping I have yet to find the magic although I was feeling pretty nasty a few minutes ago and the cotton candy I ate  helped.  Probably because of the sugar :)  This pregnancy is just like my others and hoping it stops right at the 2nd trimester like the previous 3 :)

mine is not as bad this time as last time. i am only getting sick once a day right now. some food aversions but mostly cravings. i think i am seeing a pattern with what makes me sick. def no sugar. anything sugary comes back up. i thought i wanted that milkshake but it tasted too sweet. i drank it anyway but it didnt last. i bought some b6 and i am going to start taking it at night before bed. if i need too i will take a second in the afternoon. i feel hungry like i am starving but only for certain tastes and smells. my previous 2 pregnancies i was sick all day for at least 3 or 4 weeks. with DD1 it started at 7 weeks and with DD2 it started at 5 weeks. so i can handle this if it doesnt get worse. :)

I think it can shift within a pregnancy and also be different during the same pregnancy.  With my first I was just the general icky feeling all the time from 5-14 weeks.  With my second, I was the general icky feeling from 6-8weeks and then more of a gaggy feeling from weeks 8-10.  I actually preferred the gaggy feeling because I only felt icky when I felt gaggy, which wasn't all of the time like the "general feeling of ickiness" is.

Mine is definitely worst when I haven't eaten for a while.

Also, when I was pregnant with my daughter, the time of day when I took my prenatal vitamin had a HUGE impact on my stomach.  I ended up taking it at night before bed so I could sleep through the yuckiness it brought.  The only time I threw up my last pregnancy was when I took my vitamin on a fairly empty stomach.

when we drove to chicago a couple weeks ago not only did i only get 4 hours of sleep but i grabbed my green smoothie to go and took my vitamins with it.  big mistake, i felt soooo freaking sick half the drive up.

See, I read this and I freak out! I have pretty much no morning sickness this time around & the last two times it was all the way through the pregnancy, perhaps less severe with the first than the second, but still quite present. Has anyone noticed their ms was better the closer the pregnancies were together? Like your body was a little more prepared or something? I have 20 years in between my first and second pregnancy, so I'm pretty sure my body didn't really remember. But this time there's only 18 months in between. Little glimmer of hope there, maybe?

Anyway, during the last pregnancy, I found that eating constantly helped a lot. Whatever I could keep down, I ate.

I'm good until noon. It all goes downhill after that. I'm finding that skipping lunch is actually my best bet at not feeling like total crap in the evening. I don't know why this is. If I eat a decent breakfast, skip lunch, and eat a smallish supper, I feel pretty okay. Anyone have any theories on this?
