Hi all! My midwife and I were discussing my blood test results and how low my blood platelets were (46). She put me on some supplements right away- beetroot, astragalus (sp?), and b12. She also told me to make sure I bump up my protein, vitamin c, and zinc in my diet. So game plan is set and I feel good about it! I've done some research on this and understand the concerns and issues with it... I realize mine are extremely low. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck finding anyone who said theirs got better with food or supplements. Everyone I spoke to said their levels didn't go up without steroids or a blood transfusion shortly before delivery. My concern is I have a HBAC planned and if my levels don't go up, my midwife will have to drop me and I'll have to see an OB and deliver in the hospital. Obviously I'll do that if it's safer but I'd desperately like to avoid it. So my question is this, if you or someone you know had this problem- did it get better with food & supplements? What was your experience with it? Thanks in advance for any input. :)
