The world smells terrible.

I know I'm not alone in this experience. Anyone else completely grossed out by smells everywhere? I opened the fridge this morning and retched. Got in my car, retched. Walked by a restroom, retched.

This was one of my main unpleasantness from my last pregnancy, and it lasted until about 20 weeks. I had all kinds of coping methods then, including carrying around a lemon half and sticking it under my nose when I needed to block a smell. lol Yes, really.

So, who else is attacked by nasty smells? Any tips or advice for dealing with it? Or just plain old commiseration?

The world just smells for me.... not terrible yet. I was walking down the street the other day and noticed that EVERYONE was wearing cologne or perfume. Gross. I can smell everything in the kitchen, and quite frankly I can smell immediately when my dog and/or husband farts. Gross.

I don't have any advice though. I just eat a lot of scrambled eggs, because right now I love them and they still taste good.

I can smell everything too and it's awful. Yesterday my husband was sweaty and I was ready to cry when he sat down next to me.  I want to make scrambled eggs but I'm afraid the smell will kill me. I'm going to try anyway!

It's true, everything reeks.  And it will reek until the baby is born.  But, the gagging should end in a few weeks smile.gif  Right now I can't stand the smell of honey.  YUCK.  My cat has also taken to peeing on the baby's diapers...not cool.

Onions. Perfume. Laundry soap. Apparently the dinner I am cooking, which is full of healthy (stinky) things. My husband said it smelled delicious though. I'll have to take his word for it.

My son's closet backs up to the hall bathroom. I've never noticed before, but it smells very "wet" in there to me... but my DH went under the house and everything and couldn't find any leaks. Whenever I open the cabinet where we keep snacks/cereal/etc, the mingled smells resemble the smell of trash to me. Then there's the actual trash, the smell of leftover food in the fridge, the diaper pail, the stinky baby and pre-schooler poop, the fields surrounding my house (manure), food smells, my husband's smell when he's fresh home from work.... I could go on and on. Each of these terrible smells sets me gagging. I haven't thrown up yet, but I know the day is fast approaching. gross. This is probably the worse thing about pregnancy.

Right there with all of you.

Even good smells are making me gag. My shampoo & conditioner, for one. All day I smell it in my hair, and all day it makes my stomach turn. I even switched to a very mild smelling shampoo/conditioner, and still, I smell it, and it makes me sick.

My kids' breath in the morning... oh holy night. It makes me want to run away screaming and never come back. cold.gif

I had to ride in a vehicle all cramped between this guy I don't know & my husband the other night, and I could smell the other guy's deodorant mixed with a hint of body odor & cologne & maybe mouthwash mixed with bad breath... omg. It was all I could do not to puke in my lap.

Yep.

Last time I was pregnant, my husband's breath smelled like strep.  I kid you not.  I made him go to the doctor.  No strep.  He went to the dentist to see if there was something else.  Nope.   It lasted my entire pregnancy.  It was horrible!  Try kissing strep!  ;)

Aaaaand, it was my first symptom this time.

"Crap, honey, are you getting sick?"

"No.  Have you POAS today?"

Last time I was pregnant i actually called our landlord to get a new fridge because it REEKED and everything in it that I ate tasted like fridge and made me hurl....he came to take a look and couldn't smell anything.

The sensitivity is deffinitely increasing though- I can no longer stand the smell of coffee or peanut butter....or pretty much anything....
