Ectopic Pregnancy?

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a bit of advice? I'll give you a brief run down of what's been going on so far (I don't chart so this is all just educated guessing!)...

I'm pretty sure I ovulated around the 10/11 of October (although initially thought it was the 3/4 and my lmp began on 21st Sept) , and then got what I thought was my period on the 20th, but when it only lasted a day and a half I thought there was a small possibility it was implantation bleeding and being unusually tired I took a pregnancy test on the 23rd that came back as a very faint positive. Took a couple more and they were all pretty faint, so went into the Dr on the following Tues (25th) and she sent me for blood test that evening. My results - HCG 11, then I took a sneaky home test the next day that was positive, and my second blood test on Thurs morning (27th) was HCG 16. So, not great. Rather than sending me for a third test my dr wants me to wait it out and see what happens, so I now have a scan booked for next Friday and basically it'll either be that we see a heartbeat then...or I'll bleed before then.

Anyway, throughout this period I've noticed a few pangs in my side or abdomen every now and then but nothing major. Today I've noticed a bit of a dull ache just to the right of my left hip, on and off all day. I've also had a bit of shoulder pain (again, nothing major just a bit of an ache on and off) which I know can happen potentially with an ectopic, although I think it might be fairly rare and would've thought it would happen later like if it had ruptured and I had more cramps and pains in my abdomen.

Is this enough to go and get checked out do you think? Because of this wait I have become so aware of everything going on with my body, that I can't tell if I'm making something out of nothing and I don't want to go in to the dr without really needing to, but I also don't want to leave stuff late that could potentially be serious. I've had a cyst before so maybe that's all it is? Argh, I don't know!

Any thoughts would be really helpful, I'd love to hear someone who has been in a similar situation or just has any advice.

Thanks so much in advance!

I had an ectopic scare while trying to conceive that turned out to be an ovarian cyst which had ruptured. It was a HUGE relief just to know what the problem was and not have to worry about it anymore. So my advice would be...if it's really bothering you, go ahead and get it checked out.

Your symptoms don't sound super alarming to me. So perhaps since you'd rather avoid going in (which I totally understand) you could just call your doctor's office, tell them what's going on, and see what they advise. Doctors are used to getting calls like that so it won't bother them any, and it might give you some peace of mind.

Thanks so much for your reply Thesan, it's always good to know you're not the only one worried about this kind of stuff! I guess at this point in our lives we're just so in tune with or aware of our bodies we pick everything up. I can only imagine what a relief finding out about that cyst must have been!

I'm feeling much better this morning, no side pain and just a bit of a sore neck from sleeping weird. I do have slightly sore stomach muscles, like I've been doing sit ups or laughing really hard though - weird! I think that if it starts up again I'll take your advice and just give the dr a ring to see what they say.

Thanks again!
