Mamas Losing the Baby Weight in November!

Thread Starter

I thought the original thread was getting too long and might be intimidating for anyone who wanted to join in.  So, I'm gonna do a new thread each month.  The old thread can be found here.

Here's what I ate yesterday:

B: Pumpkin pie oatmeal, coffee with almond milk

L: Turkey and cheese wrap on spinach lavash, bowl of homemade veggie soup

S: greek yogurt, banana

D: Homemade bacon cheeseburger, sweet potato fries, glass of red wine

Total points plus: 46

No exercised to speak of yesterday.  I've been trying to potty train Nickolas and it has me turned into a basket case.  Yesterday was a horrible potty day with many accidents and I just didn't have the motivation to go jogging.  It's rainy today, so likely no jogging today either.  We'll see.

Weight as of this morning: 161

Took my measurements today, because I was wondering where I was at.

Weight: 140.5 lbs

Bust: 40in

Waist: 30in

Hips: 39in

All my measurements are an inch or two larger than what they used to be, last I checked. (Which was probably about 2 or 3 years ago.)

I didn't do arms or thighs 'cause I'm not really sure how and I don't want to know what my legs are. I've always envied women who have smaller legs, it's a major thing for me.

There is quite a pooch between the waist and hips measurement that I think is slowly going down. Not sure how to work on that though. Any of you mamas with experience know what works for getting rid of the pooch?

Potty training is evil!!  I so hear you.

I like the idea of someone reading my food journal too.  It will help me stay accountable!!

Morning - cold pizza, 1/2 choc chip banana muffin, coffee

Midday - Field roast frankfurter on whole wheat tortilla w/ketchup and mustard; baby carrots; pb & j on a pita;banana

evening - seitan pepper steak with daiya mozzerella on tortilla; 3 mary janes; 2 glasses red wine

total points: 47

exercise - C25K week 4 day 1 (again, this "week" is killer!!  I don't think I can move on until I can do better at this week.)

Today was my weigh in day - 155.4 (down another 2 from last week! energy.gif

I was down 0.5 pound this week.  I had a lot of under eating last week and not enough exercise.

Hopefully this week will be better but atleast it has been losses every week so far. (4 weeks in)

Thanks for the new thread!

Bfast: like a pot of coffee plus another cup (one of those nights...hand foot and mouth does NOT rock my world) and a light yogurt

Snack: a couple of little pieces of chocolate bars. More coffee.

Lunch: turkey sandwich on WW w/ pepperjack (not much, yay me!) and a crapload of sprouts. Carrots.

Snack: Tiny slice of the artisan bread that was just out of the oven.

Dinner: Homemade taco soup w/ homemade bread. yum!

I actually do pretty good for eating. I don't snack that much and eat pretty healthy. I don't feel the need to count points. Dh and I just don't eat junk, minus holiday stuff, so I think I'll do ok.

Exercise on the other hand....my excuse of the week is that I'm really really wanting to talk to my physical therapist on Tuesday before I implement any kind of plan. I've done JustDance2 on the wii a couple of times, and I do burn calories going up and down the stairs all day, along with running around town with between 2-4 kids in tow. But I'm craving MOVEMENT! Being exhausted is not good on working out. Hoping the PT will give me some ideas.

I'm posting on my phone, so I can't really comment on everyone's posts at the moment. Hopefully I can get to the computer later.

Here's what I ate today:

L: hamburger patty and slice of lite Swiss cheese in a spinach lavash wrap, bowl of veggie soup

S: banana, apple

S: carrots

D: breaded cod filet, bowl of veggie soup

S: square of homemade pumpkin-oat bread. Glass of red wine

Total points: 39- I'll have to eat something else before bed--probably a bowl of oatmeal

No exercise today greensad.gif

Dumb question-- are thee weight watchers points that you are all counting?

My food goals for Nov are to 1. throw away the halloween candy, and 2. if dessert, make it a fig newton or 2 (only 2g of fat per serving, which is 2 cookies)

Exercise goals:  daily 20-30minute walk with baby, weather permitting.  still havent bought the zumba video.

Kyla, I wish I knew how to lose the pooch-- for now I consider it an accessory. lol

Carrie, I'm with you on the cold pizza for breakfast. omg yum!!!!

Ok. I am joining up. I need to kick this PPD and I feel best when I am eating my best. I have gained 10lbs since having Marcus. So that makes me 40lbs over prepregnancy weight. UGH! This sucks because I totally changed my diet this time, ate really well, and gained the same 50lbs I did for the other two pregnancies. Thank goodness this is my last one. So. Wednesday I am checking in at WW. I usually follow a vegan, no sugar, no salt, no oil diet. But with my high needs baby and PPD, i struggle to try to make meals myself, so my meat loving DH makes meals. We lots everything I had premade for post birth in Irene and now lost all my extra meals people gave us (because we lost everything) in the freak snow storm.

But anyway. Life needs to get better and here is my attempt.

I'm joining in spirit... I had surgery yesterday to remove a bunion from my left foot. It'll take up to eight weeks to heal. greensad.gif

However, I have gone back to a Paleo way of eating... lean meats, eggs, lots of veggies and fruit, no grains, no soy, minimum dairy and sugar. It worked before pregnancy and should again.

For the record, I've been stuck at 170 lbs for two months. Blah. eyesroll.gif

Hugs on the ppd and surgery!! Welcome!!

Well, i threw myself a pity party and over ate. Pizza and beer. Ugh, now i feel disappointed and over full.

Otherwise, i did ok today! I'll just have to be good the rest of the week. Hopefully it'll all be ok by Friday.

Welcome to all our newcomers. Thanks for joining in on this journey to good health!

Auto: I'm so sorry about the ppd. That sounds just awful! I hope eating better can help you in some way. Big hugs, mama.

Mamamerle: bummer about the surgery. Here's to a quick recovery!

Cake mama: sounds like you have a good plan in place!

Jill: I'd live your taco soup recipe. I live making soup in the winter. So yummy! I hear you on the stairs being great activity. We don't have any at home, but when I go back to work in January, I park in an underground garage. It feels great to go up and down those stairs 2-4 times a day!

Carrie: if there's anything worth breaking your diet for, pizza and beer is it! Don't stress, you'll get back on plan tomorrow. From what you've been saying, you never even use your weekly allowance, so it probably won't even phase you in the long run.

AFM: I managed to go for a nice jog today. I went 2.66mi in 34 min. 24 min was jigging and 10 min walking. I really had to talk myself into getting out there, but it was sooo worth it!

Here's what I ate today:

B: pumpkin pie oatmeal, coffee with almond milk

L: 1/2 turkey panini, black bean soup, apple, cup of coffee. Very small bite of a chocolate babka. All at Panera Bread.

S: banana, spinach lavash dipped in hummus, piece of pumpkin-oat bread

D: chicken breast stewed with Italian diced tomatoes, steamed broccoli, bugler pilaf, glass of red wine

S: will be a bowl of oatmeal

Points plus used: 48
Activity pts earned: 5

You're right.  I just need to put it all behind me!  I used TEN weekly points though.  Yikes!  No more of that!  I'm not sure how many runs I'll get in this week b/c of this dumb clogged duct.  It really hurts!!

Today so far back on track!  Going to stay that way!!  Though the time change is messing me up a bit.  I'm hungrier earlier than usual.  eat.gif

big hugs you guys! Seems like we all need a little pick-me-up!

I had leftover soup...and a hotdog. Dh and BIL came back from hunting with two elk so I was needing to eat something fast, and there wasn't much soup left. dammit!

Taco Soup: I really don't have a "recipe" but I can tell you what I put in it! It was a "use the leftovers" kind of soup.

1lb ground venison, cooked and crumbled (dh hunts, and we add 5% fat to make it not stick to the pan, but it's SUPER lean)
2 cups dry beans soaked overnight and cooked till semi-tender (I used black beans this time...can also use two cans of beans)
2 cans corn or 2 cups frozen corn
1 can tomato sauce (I used leftover spaghetti sauce!)
1 container beef broth, or other broth (the big cartons)
I usually add, but was lazy this time: green peppers, onion, and tomatoes.
chopped cilantro, sour cream and cheese for toppings.
I threw it all in my crockpot on high for a few hours. Then added a few handfuls of spices. I've always been like Rachael Ray, and NEVER measure spices. I added some taco seasoning, a ton of chili powder, some cumin (at least like 2tsp of each, usually more) and some sea salt. Oh, and Oregano.
Its really good if you top it with crispy tortilla strips (easy to make in the oven)

this week will be MUCH better! Dh is home so I'll have time for some really elaborate healthy meals. Indian food here I come! I love love cooking meals like that but rarely have time.

I'll be joining back mid november once I move. The few pounds I had lost, I gained back- its all my fault though, I've been eating not so great and haven't been exercising. Right now we have so many frozen meals left from when I cooked before birth, that I need to eat those- though I'm starting to try to pick out the healthier ones of those. Soda is a huge nemesis now. I've gotten into a habit where I think I NEED a coke everyday. I rarely drank soda during pregnancy so its stinks that now I just can't get enough of it. As far as exercise, its next to impossible right now. Magnolia keeps me pretty busy and when she's asleep I have to pack.

I did do something positive this weekend- I threw out all the candy and other sugary snacks. I also threw out the pizza that was left from friday night - there was still 1/2 a pizza left. It seemed like such a waste, but I figure there is no point in making myself even fatter just so I don't feel bad about wasting food. Once I get back to GA mom has agreed to watch Mags an hour a day so I can workout. I really want to look good for DH's graduation from basic, but with only 4 wks from the time I move back to GA, its not going to happen... not when I have to loose 25 just to look "okay".

Mamamerle- I'm considering doing Paleo. Do you have any good sites for eating tips or recipes? How quickly do you usually loose weight on that?

Jill-thanks for the recipe! It sounds sooo yummy! We don't really have access to venison around here, do I'll be substituting beef or turkey. I never measure spices either! Just dump in and taste! smile.gif

Stormy: good luck with your move. That's great that your mom will watch Magnolia for you to work out! You'll see results in no time!

Afm: no exercise today greensad.gif

B: pumpkin pie oatmeal, coffee

S: spinach lavash wrap and A slice of turkey

L: barbacoa burrito bowl from chipotle

D: pork sirloin, candied sweet potatoes, glass of red wine

S: piece of pumpkin-oat bread, two peanut butter cookies

Total points: 46

I am still around.  My diet has not been great though.  For the first time in my adult life I am not modeling or doing any adult themed work.  So I have the freedom to eat what I want now...and I have been lol.  I don't really feel bad about it in the least.  I am still exercising though.  I want to stay healthy and somewhat toned up for my own mental health and self esteem.  I am between a size 1 and 3.  That's all I know.  I haven't done a weigh in or measurements in a long while.

Congrats to all the mama's here though who are sticking with it and losing that baby weight!

This has definitely been the case for me, and I AM trying to lose it.  My weight watchers leader says that nursing moms tend to lose weight more sporadically due to fluctuating body fluid levels.  I guess that makes sense.  At any rate, I am averaging about a pound a week, which is my goal.  So I try not to get too discouraged by a slow week.

I just had the most annoying run of my life.  Baby screaming in the stroller, GPS watch went dead, air in tires low...ended up walking with Alexander in the ergo for over 30 min and only ran about 10 min.  At least Nickolas napped the whole time.  Now I'm having a second cup of coffee.  orngtongue.gif
