No Menstuation/Ovulation From Breastfeeding = Saved Eggs?

I've always wondered this. May be a stupid question. It took me till 17.5 months PP to get AF back due to breastfeeding. Does anyone know if that means that my eggs just stayed put and stored up until I started ovulating again, sort of like frozen in time? I've just turned 40 and probably don't have a whole lot of eggs left, so this scenario would be ideal for me!

Yes, I believe they eggs just stay put. However, as we age our egg quality deteriorates. So, breastfeeding amenorreah wouldn't prevent that.
