Any other moms with HUGE appetites and lots of weight gain? - Page 2

How is everyone here dealing with holiday food/treats? Being an unofficial family cook, I find this to be the hardest time of year during pregnancy. I'll make like 3 batches of cookies a week along with other desserts and on Halloween I really couldn't resist my 5 year old's candy lol.gif I don't even want to think about Thankgiving right now and all the weight I'm going to gain. It's SO HARD to limit yourself sometimes!!!

I'm feeling less hungry these days. I ate and ate and ate through the first and second trimester and now I'm losing weight. So strange because I'm craving really healthy foods and healthy portions now and I've never been one to do that, pregnant or not. I can't seem to fit tons of food in my stomach anymore and it gets so uncomfortable that my body has switched gears. Good thing because I might have gained 50lbs at the rate I was going!

I actually don't crave sugar that much, ever since chocolate made me want to puke during the first tri.  I limit myself to one pumpkin latte a week (decaf soy) and even though I have a few treats for my husband in the cupboard (ok, that sounds like he's a dog... I mean cookies and stuff), I don't really feel a strong desire to eat them.  My big addiction: butter.  Trader Joe's has this amazing irish butter that melts oh so beautifully, and I simply must have some on my morning toast and on my pancakes.  :)

I'm actually hungrier this third trimester than I was the last one, but of course I managed to gain a ton during the 1st and 2nd tri... Go figure.  Oh well, I've always had an easy time losing weight and I'm actually looking forward to going back to the gym, if only because that's the only time my husband will agree to take care of the baby (he's really keen on me losing the weight!).

Yes!  huge huge huge appetite.  I don't realize how much I'm eating until I'm with friends and not eating, and then starving when I leave them.  33 weeks and up 30 pounds.  I don't think it's HUGE weight gain, but it probably higher than it's "supposed to be."

i've been eating waaaay more than my share of fruit lately.  i've been craving something sweet, but i WILL.NOT.GIVE.IN.AND.MAKE.A.CHOCOLATE.CAKE.... (repeat this phrase liberally).  i think i've actually eaten 8 apples in the last 24 hours.  and a few pears.  and bananas.

yeah, i love fruit.  i'm trying to keep it balanced with greens/vegetables, but i'm definitely leaning towards the sweet these days.

Full fat, cream on top, Brown Cow plain yogurt! Yuuuummmmm!!!

@HardCoreMom I've got an apple problem too ;) I gained 6lbs this past week, so up 30-35lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight... trying not to think too much of it as I'm measuring bang-on for dates. I also eat a TON of cheese, but that's not really anything new!

Have you guys tried Honeycrisps?  They are the Rolls Royce of apples, IMO.  Mmmmmmmm...

i wish!  we don't have a very big selection of organic apples around here.  total bummer.  i've been downing all the fujis and granny smiths i can eat, though!  with sunflower butter, just cause i love me some calories.... ;)

I LOVE honeycrisp apples! We have a local co here that makes this insanely good raw almond butter, and the two together seriously taste like an apple pie... Oh why am I out of that almond butter?? At about 30 weeks, my appetite kicked up big time.  I am so. freaking. hungry. in the morning, I'm pretty sure I spend the first 2 hours of the day just eating.  My appetite thankfully calms down from there, but the mornings are madness.  Sadly for me, I get lots of cravings for not so healthy stuff too, and have made the cliche midnight run to the store for that ice cream I just had to have. I have two breakfasts... One when I wake up (usually sprouted toast with almond butter and jam & tea) and then about 90 minutes later I'll have what my husband calls my "second breakfast", which is more substantial (eggs, toast, juice, etc.).  "Second breakfast" has become a running joke between us, but the reality of my hunger (especially in the mornings) cannot be ignored!!

Oh, and did I mention I'll have a snack of apple, granola, and goat yogurt before lunch?  :)

mornings are also my hungry time, pilar!  (at least you can divide your eating into separate "meals."  mine just tends to go on for a few uninterrupted hours...)  love my morning yogurt, too.  maybe a little too much. winky.gif

i know the baby must be having a growth spurt or something, because i haven't been eating like this up till now.  it's extra motivation to keep active!

You can count me in on that "second breakfast" too! I usually eat right when I get up, then become so sleepy I head back to bed to sleep another 2-3 hours. Lately Iv been waking up around 6am which is good....that way when I head back to bed Im not sleeping threw the whole morning.

I always have 2 breakfasts - I wake up nauseous and have oatmeal or cereal.  Then around 10 AM I get really nauseous again and have my "protein breakfast" - usually an egg sandwich.  The rest of the day I can usually eat at regular meal times.

I remember in my first pregnancy, getting half a chicken with my coffee instead of a croissant. I didnt really drink the coffee, i but i ate all the chicken!

Im entering into this 2nd breakfast phase right there with you. This morning i had my usual breakfast-cereal with almonds and  walnuts, peanut butter toast. 45mins later, ravenous, i went and got a beef taco, followed by a chicken burrito.

Then i got home and started planning lunch.

I don't let them tell me my weight (: I don't care anymore - eating and sleeping are what make me happy. I don't shove big macs down my throat..mostly cereal (: So I don't fret. Nor do I know my weight..I don't even weigh myself here at home. I DO know that my butt and thighs are HUGE!

OMG, this is SO me!  :)  I realized the other day that I spend an inordinate amount of time standing in front of the refrigerator these days.

I was going to kill for chocolate cake the other week, but when i went to the bakery section to get a little portion for two piece I read the ingredients and was grossed out by the hydrogenated garbage and the list of ingredients that went on for miles and miles.  Instead I bought a box of organic chocolate cake mix, made small cupcakes, and skipped the icing and opted for natural vanilla ice cream instead.  I was able to get my fix without feeling THAT bad about it... and I froze the cupcakes immediately so that they weren't calling to me 10 times a day.

...Don't get me wrong, I still heard them from inside the freezer, but their voices were muffled and I couldn't see/smell them so I was able to treat myself once in a while!
