1. 7/27
2. Have a 5 yo who was born at 32w
3. Hoping for a homebirth if I make it to 37 w. Otherwise, hospital. Different hospital, different dr, different everything. Last labor was 2 h total, another quick one would be ok but I can stand a longer one if it's for a term baby!!
4. No internet, you can not have any more of my secrets.

Hi!  You are correct.  I was looking through for familiar names, but I didn't notice yours.  How are you doing?  How's your 1 year old?  DD is a little ball of energy, she is nonstop while she is awake getting into EVERYTHING.  And I swear, it got worse after I found out I was pregnant.  I think the little 'beasts' wait to show themselves until it's too late to stop another one from coming. :)

Hi expectant moms!

1. Due Date: July 5th

2. Baby #1, a honeymoon baby!

3. Currently considering a midwife birth in a hospital, there are so many options in my area, including birth centers, so I am feeling overwhelmed (in a good way).

4. DH and I have been dating for 5 years but just got married last month. We have been anxious to start trying to get pregnant and joked to everyone we would start trying as soon as the ink was dry on the marriage certificate! We were lucky and conceived our first try, in no small part to the education from reading Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Awesome book!

1. Due date: Around July 21

2. Baby #, and ages of other little ones you might have: Pregnancy #4, baby #3. My two boys are 4.5 and 2.5

3. Current birth plans: hypnobirth at the hospital

4. One interesting thing we might now know about you!: I really really look forward to homesteading. We'll be buying around the time this babe is due!

Homesteading is awesome... but hard. The hardest year of my marriage was when we moved to the country with a 1 yo. Stress!!!!! It depends on your homesteading goals and how far out in the boonies, though.

BTW, I love babywearing... and our little guy did everything early - held hisi head up, crawled, walked - even when everyone told me that I was 'holding him too much' - good luck! CDing is great too - you'll be AMAZED even more by the power of the sun!

This group has some FUNNY ladies in it - so happy to be along for the ride!

I'm editing because it makes more sense to share it here...

Everything I read on regular sites is that Kombucha tea should not be consumed during pregnancy. But, they never said why, and I often wonder if we are reading facts or fear... If you know what I mean.

This site is full of mw's and others who have done this before if you do a search, and the general consensus is:  If you've been drinking it for a year or more, it's fine... If not some people say you could start with really small doses (2 oz or more) and then go from there.... Others, who I tend to agree with, say that if you have only been drinking it for a short time, that the toxins from the detoxing could still be mobilizing and run in your blood stream - which would be bad for baby... all of those toxins... Beet juice and cilantro could do the same thing in detox dosing.

BUT, I err on the side of caution... A few months not drinking it will be fine for me.  I started drinking it about 3 months ago, and I've chosen to stop.

As far as raw milk and raw cheese/yogurt/kefir go - I have only found and confirmed with my own midwife that as long as you know the farm that it's coming from, you'd be fine... The bacteria or virus in an animal does not pass from animal to milk... HOWEVER, if the farmer's hand has feces or other not so sanitary stuff on it and THAT runs into the milk, it could be harmful.

I've actually gone to the farm I use, watch how they sanitize their animals and then put gloves on before they touch the machines that hook up to the animal.  I trust this farm.  If I did not, then I'd not be drinking raw anything anymore...

I can give you some links if you like, but I thought it might be helpful if I'd told you what I'd found and where...

I am so overwhelmed by all of the choices in diapers... I have NO idea where to start.  So, I started with baby wearing... I've got a little bit of time, so - I thought I'd better not overwhelm myself too much.

Lots of stories here... Definitely excited to share this with a group of women!  =)

1. Due date: July 25, 2012

2. Baby # 1 (transferred two embryos, so could be 1 and 2)

3. Current birth plans: hospital delivery but considering  a nurse-midwife as an advocate. Also, the hospital I plan to use has a room that allows for baby and daddy to stay in the room with mommy.

4. One interesting thing we might now know about you! I am a purple belt in Shaolin Kempo (a martial art that has its roots primarily in Chinese martial arts, with a strong influence from Japanese martial arts.

I think we need a big list at the top of this thread listing everyone in due date order. Then as mamas find out gender or other things we can edit. We can also add babies as they are born.  I will do this if no one else is interested. Let me know!

I agree, we had that in our last one... plus a "sex prediction thread" that I ran to see if our predictions were right according to the ultrasound and if the ultrasound was right compared to what we ended up having. I do believe the ultrasounds were right 100% of the time but our predictions were actually far less than 50% accurate (but it was a small sampling of women, if you get a large enough sampling it should be nearly 50%)

That sounds like a great plan!

I am joining!  :)

1)  EDD July 26

2)  This is baby number 3.  (The one I convinced my husband we could handle!)  DS1 is going to be 4 this Thursday (yes, on Thanksgiving), and DS2 is 21 months.

3) Current birth plans... scheduled C-section.  My first birth was an attempted homebirth but baby was breech and midwife didn't discover it until I begged her to check me cuz I wasn't progressing and was tired.  Second was attempted VBAC but my uterus wasn't working hard enough for whatever reason and I couldn't push baby out.  I dilated but he didn't descend.  Doc played it safe, no pitocin, so another C.  This time I just want to stick with what i know.

4) I changed my member name... I am the artist formerly known as Grace24.  Also, at 40 years old, I am the village elder.  :)

My oldest was born on Thanksgiving.  :)  This year it falls the day before, and he will be 5.  Congratulations on your happy news!

I am also gluten, dairy and soy-free. I think pregnancy will be quite interesting. I have already started craving things I know I can't eat. I haven't given in, obviously or I'd majorly regret it, but it's strange.

I am gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, egg(yolk)-free...and a bunch of other stuff. I can technically eat pork, but since DH is Muslim, I don't even though I'm an atheist; I love him that much, lol. We are a secularly homeschooling family.

yeah, I've been having teeny bits of soy here and there without any terrible effects; it's one of my least-reactive intolerances, but I try to save soy indulgences for trips to PF Chang's 2-4 times/year. ;)

Hey Mamaswave.gif

1) Due Date:   07/07/12

2) Baby #:   2 & 3; I also have a 3 yr. old son. I had to have a c/s with my first and am unsure of my current birth plans.

3) Interesting thing about me:    I'm 32, living on the coast of NC & trying to move to VA.  I found out a few days ago that I am carrying twins!! There are no twins in my family, but strangely enough my intuition had been gently nagging me about it. My son is the best thing that ever happened to me this far in life, and I was surprised to find myself taking to motherhood so easily and as well as I did b/c my own mother. She lost custody of me and my brothers when I was 9, which I'm sure saved our lives as she was mentally ill and very abusive. For the longest time I didn't know if I really wanted to have any children or not; both my brothers decided not to have any. I have seen therapists over the years, read many self-help books, and have had to take a brave, forgiving, & accepting approach towards life even more so after discovering I would become a mother myself. A very different mother I have become--YEY!  In general I enjoying sharing, love humor, and am the "chewy-granola mom" type (that's what I've heard it referred to I think).

I just joined this site & hope to find support and give support where I can!  Love to you all! thumb.gif

Anyone else expecting twins??
