Bed sharing with DD, step father, & a new baby...How can we arrange this??

DD is 3 years old and currently we bed share with her crib (3 sided) side carred to our bed with me sleeping next to her (essentially, Im in the middle). We have a new baby coming in Fenruary and I want to attach the co-sleeper to the other side of the bed but DD still wants to be next to me. Our bed is only full sized so we don't have enough space to put her in the middle. Also, I feel like moving her out of her own area (side carred crib) is somewhat of a step backwards in terms of her weaning out of our bed. We are contemplating having the new baby in a crib and moving away from bed sharing but that won't be until baby is at least a few months old. i'm stuck as to how to arrange this so everyone is happy and comfortable. Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated! TIA

What do you plan on doing with you DD long term?  I only ask because you will probably need to buy a twin bed for her soon, anyway.  Would it be possible with your room size to have a twin bed pushed up next to the full bed?  Then you could have DH on the twin, you and baby on the full and DD in the crib.  Then you could eventually move DD to the twin and her own room?

We ended up buying a king sized bed for ourselves when DD got bigger and was still in bed with us.

Oh, you mentioned that there is not enough room for you, DH & DD in the bed, but how about you, DH & baby?  That could buy you a few months at least.

We have thought about attaching a twin on but I never thought of it as me and baby in the full and DH in the twin...I was thinking DD in the full with me and baby in the co sleeper. This option does keep my toddler in her own bed, which is something I really wanted to keep in tact. I have minor concerns about an infant being in the middle however. I would feel safer with her on my one side either with a co sleeper or bed rail. I do think we can safely achieve this option though...guess hubby and I will get our snuggle time in before bed .

I also am trying to think of the future when/if we try to wean toddler out of the bed..I really don't want her to feel pushed out and/or relate that to the introduction of the baby. Guess we'll figure it out when the time comes.

As much as I love bed sharing, I have to admit I was looking forward to reclaiming our bed soon and now I feel like those plans just got pushed back a few years.

I can relate to that.  Some people have had success transitioning both children out of the bed at the same time.  That way they can just snuggle with each other.  You don't want to do it too young, but it may be a possibility.
