The Big Thank You Thread!!! - Page 4

From FIN #35

To the sweet generous mama from NY. I am speechless by your generosity. I was expecting some used clothes. I never expected such great brand new clothes for dd and me.

I love my wool coat. Gosh it is sooo fashionable. In all my 13 years of living here I have never ever bought myself a new coat. I have always gone to thrift stores. So your generosity floors me. It goes so well with the new pants - and I won’t look like a drab boring mom.

Our pants fit beautifully.

And oh you must understand girls and mothers too for the color of the jacket you sent to dd. she LOVES it and looks really CUTE in it. And a special big thank you for choosing magenta pink that not only won’t show the dirt so much, but she will be easy to spot during pick up from school.

It is really really hard for me to ask for something but these were things we REALLY needed. Thank you for choosing the kind of pants we can wear both in summer and winter.

I cannot express my deepest gratitude.

And even our cat says a thank you for the box the items came in. Perfect size for her to go crazy in for a while.

Last but not least, a big thank you to all of those who worked behind the scenes to make this whole endeavor possible. This wouldn't have happened without you.

Family #22    I  am just in awe of the genorosity of strangers. My heart is overwhelmed for gratitude. I have not bought a toy brand new in years and am more than appreciatve for used items with plenty of use left in them....so when the box from Target came I was perplexed. Inside was a VERY cool Toy Story lego set that my son is going to go NUTS over. To think someone took the time to shop n a site for MY son whom you never even MET and spent the money on such a perfect gift........God bless you.Thank you!!!!!!

Dear Cari in Oregon,

THANK YOU!  Thank you for sharing with us all these wonderful goodies! I love the diaper stash, and the tie dyed flats are so beautiful.  The pants for the boys are great, and they will all love the toys.  The jacket and snow suit for my little one will come in handy as well!  Thank you so much for your support and kindness.  Your note was my favorite part; so touching and comforting.

From a Holiday Helper Facilitator:

Thank you to everyone involved with the Holiday Helper program. It's such a gift to be a part of such a large and giving community. Thank you to all the FINs for sharing your stories and opening your hearts and homes to receive items for your families; to the FINs and other MDC members and their extended families and friends who have given with their donations, time, shipping fairy help, posts, and good wishes; to the other Facilitators that I worked with who helped me learn the ropes (this was my first year as a facilitator) and inspiring me with their organization and team spirit; to the companies that have joined in to help our community.

"We'd all like to feel self-reliant and capable of coping with whatever adversity comes our way, but that's not how most human beings are made. It's my belief that the capacity to accept help is inseparable from the capacity to give help when our turn comes to be strong."--Mr. Fred Rogers

I think we could all learn a little something from Mr. Rogers.  I grew up with him (showing my age) and miss that more gentle time.

Holiday Helper is my favorite time of year.  It is true that giving makes you feel so good.  Thank you to all who participate and give generously.  Thank you to Hylands for stepping up and giving so much.  Thank you to the facilitators who answer all of my questions.  Thank you to all the FINs who take the time to use this thread.  That little act warms my heart!  Thank you to Mothering for allowing this wonderful program to continue.

OH my goodness, I am overwhelmed with gratitude--again!  (FIN #17 here)

1. Thank you, thank you to the Holiday Helper who sent the lovely Plan Toys rainbow stacker and the wooden camel puzzle--not just my 2yo but ALL my kids have been playing with those since they were unwrapped yesterday!  I had been sad because I couldn't afford to get the one toy that my youngest really wanted (a stuffed Scooby Doo) until we got paid again--after the holidays--so getting your gift in time to be wrapped up for him really made his Solstice!  joy.gif

2. This morning I got a box from "QuirkyBaby", and thought, I've heard of that shop....but I haven't bought anything from there...  Then I opened it up and out came SO MANY lovely nursing shirts!  I was thinking two or three, so WOW, this is really great!  I don't have that many shirts, total--so this is like getting a whole new wardrobe!  Plus, they're long-sleeved, which is awesome--cause I'm always cold, esp. while nursing a tiny one in the winter months.  Thank you, thank you!!  love.gif

I wish all of you the most amazing and joyous holiday season--thank you a thousand times over grouphug.gif

Thank you Ross Family, from FIN #23, CO!

The box arrived today, just in time!  We had 12 inches of snow overnight and my husband has been working in the cold.  His only thermals have a whole in the seat, so they aren't very warm.  These new ones are already getting used, and we just opened them!  I have to thank you so much for the warm thermals and pjs for my daughter.  She has a cold this week and I know they will be great keeping her warm tonight.  The package of craft supplies is going to be so much fun.  She LOVES things like that and asks to "do a craft" all the time.

Thank you for the Walmart gift card!  It was so sweet and thoughtful of your family!

The socks are wonderful too.  They will be well used and appreciated!

Thank you all so much!  I hope this year brings endless blessings to your sweet family!

Stay warm in Fl! :)

Dear Ginger-

Your second box arrived earlier this week.  I opened it this afternoon and the tears started again.  Your generosity is something I will remember for a very long time. The gift card is so much more than I could have ever imagined.  The note cards are lovely.  The treats for my DS, oh the treats, so many treats!  Then I saw...Oral hygiene, lip balm, noise makers, stamps too!

Ginger- you truly have the magic of Christmas inside you.  My son thanks you and will continue to thank you for many many months to come.

I wrapped everything from your earlier box and can not wait to see the look on my sons face Christmas morning.blowkiss.gif

We are FIN #34.

I had completely forgotten about signing up as a FIN, because my ds was hospitalized just a few days after Thanksgiving, and I pretty much stopped thinking about everything except him. After a long, long 3 1/2 weeks, my little boy was finally able to come home, just a few days ago.  All our savings had been depleted previously, and dealing with ds' hospitalization brought our family to the breaking point, emotionally and financially. Usually, December is my favorite month of the year. I LOVE the holidays and I go all out with decorating, cookies, etc etc. This year we barely managed to get a tree up, and forget about buying presents to put under it.

When I checked my email yesterday I was speechless. I received two $100 gift cards.  Tomorrow I am going out to buy my kids presents. I really don't know what else to say. There are no words that can express that thankfulness and elation that I feel right now. Our life was torn to pieces this year, but now we are going to have a wonderful Christmas, and everything will just get better from here on out.

Thank you. I hope I can be a holiday helper next year, because I have now seen firsthand how the kindness of a stranger can make all the difference.

Oh my goodness, I sound like an after school special. Sorry, I didn't mean to get all sentimental, but I am just so happy !shy.gif joy.gif
