I was curious how involved and interested everyone's other kids are in babies and birth.
My first daughter is SOOOOOOO into it right now. When DD2 was born she was 21 months old and we watched tons of birth videos and she was there for everything and even hopped into the birth pool with us right after the birth.
This time around she insists that she has a baby in her tummy, twins actually. DD2 says she is growing a baby too. They help the midwives find the heartbeat with the doppler, and listen to "their" babies with the stethoscope. They say they want to be midwives when they grow up.
DD1 talks about which way her babies are positioned (hers are breech) and how much they like to jump. Tonight she stole my birth ball away from me and said she needed it because her baby likes to jump up and she needs it to go down. DD2 is always asking me to pull up my shirt so she can see the baby move.
They REEEEEEALLY want to go swimming in the birth pool, so I think I will have them help DH set it up and fill it when it is time, and then they can keep busy playing in the water until I want it.
They are both going to be at this birth, and if they want, we will have them help cut the cord. Anyone else have such enthusiasm going on?
