girl's J names

Thread Starter

So I just found out we are having our 4th girl. Our first 3 have J names and everyone is saying this one should too. I am not totally sold on the idea, we always picked a name before because we loved it, they just happened to be J names. We have Jewel, Josephine, and Juniper right now. I am willing to consider J names but I haven't really seen ANY in your typical baby name book (you know 10,000 baby names) that I like. (well besides Jemima and DH has vetoed that). One of her middle names will be March, since she will make my little women set complete and my 3 sisters and I are all huge little women dorks.) I also sort of Liked Jemmy, but people's response was "sryup" and  Jemmy and Jewel is too much. (which hasn't entirely turned me off from that name.) other names I like are

Cerridwen,

Gertrude (Gertie)
Scout
Agnes
Harper
Mabel
Lark
Fern
Wren
Cecilia
Catherine
Nell
Summer
Helen
Neva
Mildred
Nola
Evelyn
Talia
Rhea
Ione
Marjorie
Vera

Veda

Gaia

Olwen

Ostara

Eos

was also thinking of doing a C name because Hubs and I have C names then we'd have 3 J's and 3 C's.

I love a lot of the names on your list!

I thought of a couple of J names for you:
Jacinda
Jessamine
Jovie

I would agree with you not to be totally sold on needing a J name, just because the other girls do, but I guess there could be time when she felt left out because of it.  Personally, I am trying to not talk myself out of other A names that I really like because my daughter has an A name.  I don't tend to like "matchy-matchy" names but your daughters names are all beautiful!

So for J names

I like the suggestions above and would add:

Jana (Hebrew for gracious) (which sounds good with March)

Jamila (beautiful in Arabic)

Janis (you seem to have some classic names on your list)

Jillian (latin and has many spellings)

Jolie

I love Little Women too.  Can't wait to read it with my daughter when she is a bit older.

FWIW, I have 4 siblings, and all of their names begin with a M, and my name begins with an L.

It isn't all weird, and I didn't really think about it until I was much older--like high school.

I love the name Julia.  I knew a girl named Jana and she was really cool, and I love that name, too.

But don't feel like you have to have a J name...

Hi Courtney!  I'm still so excited about your fourth girl ... even if it means that I was wrong with my guess.

What about Jericho?  I love that name for a girl.  Jericho March sounds LOVELY.

My brothers and I all have C names.  We first three were all C names and then along came baby brother thirteen years after me, and I lobbied hard for him to have a C name too.  I'm glad that I did!  So, I guess I'm biased.

Welllllll... I happen to love J, and Z names!  lol

My name is Jaton (pronounced Juh-tawn)... Few people have heard of it and I've never met another... Although there was one woman locally who even had the same last name as me!  Freaky. But, if it struck your fancy you'd never even have to tell me, and I'd never be offended.  =)

I considered:

Jennsen (I'd still consider this one)

Junniper (But you already have one, and I ended up giving this name to my cat, I loved it so much - Junipurr - hehe... She's a beautiful Russian blue and needed a fancy name)

Joleen/Jolene (my mother's name)

Jerri or Jerilynn (pronounced Jeralin)

Jaylinn was a name I considered too...

Jericho is nice, and I'd never thought to use that one before!  Mad props for that one!

I had a friend who named her daughter Josephine and called her Joey... I really think that is precious.

Justice was a name I thought to use...

Just some things to consider...

Jennsen is by far my favorite and it goes well with March...

I HEART LITTLE WOMEN, btw.  I get it.

My little ones are Piper Lee Noelle, Scarlette Elizabeth, and Holden Crewe... I appreciate different names and I can only imagine how difficult that must be when trying to stick with J's!

EDIT:  Just some food for thought...

I saw you liked Harper... LOVE that...

Hadley is similar and just as cute... I didn't mean to say I liked one better than the other.  SORRY. I was going to name my boy Hadley Valentine... Had HE been a SHE.. But, he was a Holden Crewe instead.  =)

And, the other name I considered was Chandler Valentine for a girl.  I get wanting to stick with J - but, I wanted to throw these out there.

I love the idea of doing a C name smile.gif What about Coraline? I love that one. I love Juliet, too. Why am I so sure you're having a girl? haha

I LOVE Coraline, would it be too much because of the movie though?

I don't think so! Kids her age likely won't have heard much, if anything, about that movie since it came out a few years ago. I actually LOVE the movie, which is part of why I love the name so much smile.gif I'd use it in a heartbeat if my husband liked it.
