Okay... what do you all think about his eye color?  Guesses?  Genetically he has a 50/50 shot at brown or blue.

Of my older two, I have one with brown eyes and one with blue. Honestly, their eyes looked exactly the same at this age. DS1's eyes started turning brown around 4 or 5 months. I think. I know that he saw his opthalmologist for the first time at 5 months, and I remember they had started to turn by then. DD's are blue, but I don't remember when they got lighter, honestly.

Jamiee, they look way bluer than Shay's and Shay has a 100% chance of blue eyes.

They look pretty blue to me.

Cute!!  "They" say you can estimate their adult height by doubling their height at age two.  I wonder if this holds true for most.  I've read, though, that genetics for height, weight, etc. don't really kick in until around 6 months of age, so prior to that you can't really judge.  My dd was pretty long for a while (above 50th percentile), but now it's clear that she'll be fairly short like me.  Ds1 was in the 95th percentile for weight for a while and now he's quite lean and light for his age.   So hard to say, but with your dh being 6'5" I imagine there is a good chance!

I think the formula to estimate height is Mom's height + dad's height divided by two, then (+5 for boys) (-5 for girls).

Hmmm... that would make all your kids of the same gender the same then- no accounting for differences in their genetics.  Plus for us that would mean that dd would be 2" shorter than me and my ds' would be 2" taller than dad.

Definitely- I think there is too much variation to start estimating height this young anyway, but that's the formula pediatricians use.  shrug.gif

Autumnshades, my ex-husband (dd1 and dd2's dad) is 6'5. I'm 5'5. Both girls are very, very tall and have been since day one. Also- big feet! My 9 yr old wears a woman's 6.5!

My older kids are rather small, but my brother and I were.both the shortest in our class until puberty. Now I'm average and he is 6'1". So I don't know if my kids will be tiny adults or just have a later growth pattern. Shay's donor seems like a fairly delicate guy at 5'11" and 137 lbs, but Shay is an absolute tank.

That formula definitely wouldn't work for us since DH and I are pretty much the same height (5'6" and 5'7"). My girls would all be around 5'1" and my boy 5'11"! My pediatrician says he can pretty much tell by the time they're 3. I think he just uses the curve. If they follow the curve, then their adult height will fall in the same percentile. DD1 is supposed tp be 5'4" and DS 5'5" or 5'6" (can't quite remember). Both of DH's brothers are over 6' though...

Thanks, Kali!

Loving all the cute baby pictures! :D

All our girls have blue, which is what they're genetically destined to have, but hair color--now THAT can literally be ANYTHING. Genetically, we have blond, red, brown, black and everything in between. Mine's a dark blonde/light brown, DH's is brown, my mother's grandfather was 100% Cherokee, DH has Navajo and African, my mom is red, someone on his side had red (other than his sister), so...

That formula would make my girls my height, barely taller and with DH's genetics, that's not very likely. Maybe Naomi, but I'm guessing Lilly's going to be at LEAST 2-3 inches taller than me. Kat's still a wildcard.

I have a redhead, a blonde, and now a brunette! Strangers (mostly little old ladies, lol) get a huge kick out of how different my kids look.

I'm excited that I have a baby that will look more like me! I have dark brown hair and eyes. Dd1 and dd2 have light brown/ dark blonde hair and hazel eyes (their dad has red hair and blue-green eyes). Dh is Mexican and Italian, so I'm pretty sure Jasper will have brown hair and eyes! His eyes were never even blue!

Anyone know about skin tone? Does that change like eyes do? Jasper is actually darker than dh, which surprised me. I thought he would be sort if in between us.
